About this ebook

My Pecan Tree is very special. From November through January, my Pecan tree and I spent many years and many, many pleasant hours together in our large backyard, harvesting pecans and gaining insights into man's true and divine relationship with God. One day, as I gathered the delicious nuts that had fallen, I realized my daily experiences hunting and finding pecans required me to have patience and creativity and a sense of humor-all qualities required to lead a truly harmonious and successful spiritual life. Excited to share my inspiration, Lessons from the Pecan Tree was born! Lessons from the Pecan Tree is a compilation of themed articles expanding on my discoveries "happening under the tree" that can be applied to positively enhance an individual's daily living experiences and social relationships. Each article is linked to a specific verse from the King James Version of the Bible and is truly the expression of "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights" (James 1:17). Whether reading "lessons" in one sitting or randomly, my wish is that every reader will experience their own nature's moments and discover their very own very special "Pecan Tree."

    Author’s Preface

Over the years, the writing of this book has been an ongoing labor—a labor of love.

I was prompted to write this collection of stories by numerous friends who have enjoyed hearing about my personal experiences under the pecan tree.

Thus, a great feeling of individual sharing with you of these impromptu lessons has been woven into the text. Liberally sprinkled throughout the pages, you’ll also find other humor, poetry and observations that seem to me especially meaningful.

Recalling, collecting and editing the wide variety of topics and lessons found here has suddenly become an unusual condensation of time—the years I spent learning these lessons will take you, dear reader, only a few brief moments to read and, hopefully, claim the harvest of good this small book may hold for you.

My sincerest wish is that some of the thoughts contained within these pages will meet your personal expectations and searching for good.

Nature has constantly been a profound source of learning. Even as nature dependably repeats itself, I may also have included some repetitive themes.

Although each ends with a varying result such as my initial disappointment over a sense of lack of abundant pecans or some other discovery found in my encounters with natural events.

If there are shortcomings, I ask your forbearance.

Now, I invite you to come walk with me under the pecan tree, to discover and use the truths captured in these written words.

    Every good gift

    and every perfect gift

    is from above,

    and cometh down

    from the

    Father of lights

    Introducing the Pecan Tree

Included in the many examples I have experienced demonstrating and proving God’s love for mankind, the personal inspiration I’ve received from a simple pecan tree has been beyond value to me.

This mature tree, standing some seventy feet tall, is located in the southwest corner of our large backyard. It is easily seen from the master bedroom and family room windows, as well as from the walkway leading
