About this ebook

This is a story of a ten-and-a-half-year-old girl. God can use anyone who is willing to surrender their lives over to him and trusting that his Word is true. He takes care of his own. I stand on the promises of God my savior—loving him because he first loves me. When God has a calling on your life, he will not stop until that calling is fulfilled. Whom he loves, he chases. God gave me a story to tell you. I pray and hope that all will receive his precious gift. Then it is well worth it.

    History of Paterson, New Jersey

Paterson was the largest city of New Jersey and named as the Silk City. The Industrial Revolution in North Jersey

It is considered as the cradle of the industrial revolution in America. Paterson, New Jersey’s Great Falls is 77 feet tall and 280 feet wide.

The city of Paterson is located in northeastern New Jersey near the waterfalls on the Passaic River. It was incorporated as a town in 1831.

Paterson was founded in 1791 by the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures (SUM), a group of championed statesman (http:\\www.Patersonhistory.com\10\30\2007).

The PatersonHistory.com website is a privately funded project, dedicated to the preservation of the rich history of the city of Paterson and those who seek to expand their knowledge of it.

    Alexander Hamilton

The settlement was named for the governor of New Jersey and signer of the United States Constitution, William Paterson (1746–1806). Alexander Hamilton is sometimes called the founder of Paterson because of his vision in July of 1778. On route to Paramus, General George Washington, the Marquis De Lafayette, his aide, Colonel James McHenry, and Colonel Alexander Hamilton stopped at what was then called the Totowa falls. Picnicking near the falls, Hamilton noticed the natural beauty and power of the Great Falls.

Later, when Alexander Hamilton was secretary of the treasury of the United States, he had but one place in mind for his new national manufacturing. Hamilton’s Report on Manufactures, delivered to Congress in 1790, stressed the importance of a domestic manufacturing capability. Soon after, the New Jersey Legislature passed a law establishing the charter of SUM (Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures). Hamilton was the chief adviser and the most active volunteer for the society.

    Paterson, New Jersey: A History

The city of Paterson, located on the Passaic River in New Jersey, was once one of the mightiest industrial cities of the United States. It has a rich history as the nation’s first planned industrial city, as well as containing some of the country’s oldest textile mills and businesses.

In 1792, Alexander Hamilton for Medan investment group called the Society of Useful Manufactures (the SUM) whose funds would be used to develop a planned industrial city in the United States that was later to become Paterson. Hamilton believed that the United States needed to reduce its dependence on foreign goods and should instead develop its own industries.

The industries developed in Paterson were powered by the seventy-seven-foot high Great Falls of the Passaic and a system of water raceways that harnessed the power of the falls.
