    Poem Book - James Foley

    Faunna

Sitting in a coffee shop on Clark Street

    Looking at the sexy ladies

    Walking in the place

Nothing more to do but lurk

Every book I hold is crinkled or wrinkled

Thirsting knowledge seeking who I want to be

I read in the whirlpool in the sauna

I’m in the steam room with a crinkled book

    Looking for Faunna

At the restaurant friends all around

As Dexter goes by on his skateboard

Yelling in front of the medical clinic Help! Help!

A man on his bike rolls by kitchen on wheels

He is keeping a positive flow

    When I was young

I hung around junkyards at old Irving railroad tracks

Drinking blast beer we stole from the train cars

    At the age of twelve

    My friend played guitar

I made up a blues song

    About old Miss Mary

    Always having wicked fantasies

Silver night baby she’s coming down the tracks

    21,000 Volts

Zap, I’m gone. I only hear a song

I tried to sing, but it wouldn’t come out

I slipped out of my body, I was zapped

My friends looked worried but I was happy somehow

I touched a few people but they didn’t even know

    I was still there

I touched things in people, but there was no reaction

Ghost hands withered on the piano in the room

The reflection of his past was all around

Friends talking to his mother didn’t even know he was there

    They were scared

Candles were lit, the room dreary with cobwebs

The gargoyles were conspirators, echoing voices of the past

The black cat was eating the spider in the web

The mouse was caught in a trap, squeaking, "Ee, ee, ee,
