About this ebook

Damnaste, The demon hunters, is the second book of a three-part series. In this continuing saga, the main character, Caitlynn Tourney, has been sequestered for her own safety. She has been in the sanctuary for two years. Caitlynn has not seen her family, or her friends, or the light of day, for a long, long time. She is lost to the world, and so life continues, while Caitlynn waits for Juliette.

Many things happen to Caitlynn's family and best friend in her absence. Tragedy befalls Caitlynn's best friend, Rachel. She too is taken away from the world and her life is almost too desperate to bare. Caitlynn's family loses their patriarch during the attack on the family home. All seems lost, but time gives way to change and life evolves.

During this time, an evil force has been at work. Agares, the grand duke of the eastern zone of Hell, has returned to avenge his brother's death. Demon hunters are sent to stop Agares wrath. It will take a great force to defeat Agares, because evil never rests.

Upon Juliette's return, she must devise a plan to take on her nemesis, Agares, for it was Juliette and Hans, who killed Agares' brother. Juliette takes on her role as demon hunter. She enlists the help of witches and other immortals to help create a web of deception. Juliette's friend Hans, who was once a vampire, is now a ghost. Though he is not of the physical world, he is able to move about the earth and gather information. They all must work together to defeat, the evil that is, Agares.

    Part One

    The History of Agares

There was a time before man's enlightenment that those of other worlds inhabited Earth. Mankind was but an animal, innocent of ignorance. These immortals came from distant parts of the universe and beyond.

One place in particular is known to man. The dimensions of this heavenly body have been measured by an angel as being a 12,000 stadia / 1,500 mile cube as noted in Revelations 21:15–17. This is Heaven, where the most powerful intelligence of Earth's solar system dwells, along with the angels, lesser gods, and the spirits of the believing dead. The actual location of Heaven is beyond our capability to see. It is so far from Earth that it is located in another solar system. It is somewhere in the northern universe, beyond the reach of astronomers' telescopes. These immortals, these angels and lesser gods, these celestial beings, they have been coming to Earth since its creation. As human beings developed, so did their relationship with immortals. Immortals taught humans many languages, farming skills, how to construct, build, and much, much more. Life was good on Earth, good until a certain immortal fell from grace.

Satan is known by many names throughout the world. His evil ways tainted life on Earth, and things began to change. It was during these times that immortals went against the will of Earth's God. They began to breed with humans, and worse, animals, hence the creation of abominations.

It is difficult for us to know the real truth of history. The passage of time loses the facts, and mortal man corrupts what is written. When religion is added to the equation, much of what really happened is removed, and the general populous is fed a distorted version of the truth.

Regardless, time passed, and many more angels fell from grace. By the fifteenth century, the number of fallen angels was estimated at 133,306,668 by the tabulation of Cardinal Bishop of Tusculum, Italy.

They move among us, make no mistake. They are part of our daily life. They come not only from our solar system but that of other systems from other universes. So it is, and always shall be, that all the positive and negative energies that exist will continue pushing and pulling all that is around us. There is no way to measure it, that extraterrestrial energy, that phenomena, that which we call ghost or vampire, angel or demon, god or other supernatural being. What is natural and what is supernatural is hard to know. As far as mankind has come, we are still ignorant to the reality that surrounds us.

The most intelligent and powerful energy in our solar system is known to mortal man by many names: Allah, Brahman, Buddha, God, Yahweh, and many, many more. This God of Earth created angels and lesser gods and gave them power. In fact, they were given many powers, one of them being free will.

The angel Satan used his power of free will to turn against the God of Earth in order to become a greater power. Satan, along with his minions, fell from grace. They fell to Earth and then were later exiled to Hell. Satan was sentenced to two hundred thousand years in Hell.

Hell is a place deep in the universe where evil dwells. It is located in the southern most region of our solar system. It is there, souls are damned. Four lesser gods rule over these wretched souls. Agares is one of the four.

The angel Agares served under Satan before the fall. Agares was of the Order of Virtue. His virtue was that of courage, and his powers were great, but not great enough to go against Satan. Agares became the prince of darkness and grand duke of the eastern zone of Hell. His powers were great and many. He was second only to the lord of this underworld, Satan. Agares was able to kill immortals with lightning speed. His will alone could destroy men, for he was able to kill both body and soul. Yet, as blackhearted as he was, Agares was not as evil as Satan. And so it was, when Agares fell from grace, there was still a place left in the heart of Earth's God. Time and time again, Agares had been given a chance to redeem himself, and time and time again he had failed. Agares was sentenced to twenty thousand years in Hell.

The magnitude of negative energy that penetrates the atmosphere of Hell is beyond measure. There, life, or the lack of it, was a battlefield. It was there Agares lived, surrounded by madness and chaos. His energy was always divided, as he addressed the issues of evil. Agares had much to deal with there in the bowels of Hell.

Since his return from Earth, Agares' thoughts had been focused on Lady Juliette Renoir, the woman that killed his brother. She was still alive, yes, for now Juliette was safe. But Agares knew there would be a time when Juliette would leave her precious sanctuary and return to Earth's surface, a time when she would be vulnerable. Until then, Agares waited and planned Juliette's demise.

    Chapter 1

    Two Years Later

I have had plenty of time to reflect on my life and my death, though it has not happened. For two years I lived within the sanctuary walls. I longed for the world, the light, the sun, and the colors of earth. There was light down there, but I knew it was not real. I had no way of knowing what was happening on Earth. It affected me, and I suffered great depression. When the others saw that I was succumbing to it, I was given tea. After I drank it, I was numb again. I felt like I couldn't go on any longer or I would go mad. I needed light. I needed love. I needed Juliette!

I was deep in a mountain located in Greece. Power and history surrounded me. I was in the heart of Mount Olympus. It was two years ago that Juliette and I came to the Olympus sanctuary. We accessed the sanctuary through a tunnel underneath the Aegean Sea. There were many tunnels in the mountain, most of which were unknown to mortal man. This was home to the immortal gods. Though I could not see them, thousands of immortals were coming and going.

Only a certain few made themselves known to me. The only mortal I interacted with was Six. She was a miniature and one of Juliette's entourage. Six had been assigned to take care of my needs.

While I was sequestered in the mountain sanctuary, I was given access to a library. The library had thousands of books on various subjects. I focused on the beginning of Earth and books with information concerning intelligent life-forms. This was when I learned about those before us, and Agares.

As time passed, I thought things would never change, then one evening, I had a most unusual dream. It was different than the others. It was not Juliette who came to me; no, it was Hans. I did not feel threatened by him, for he was dead, or was he? To be honest, I was not sure if I was dreaming or if he really was in my head. Suddenly I woke up. Hans was still in my head and in my room! I sat upright in bed. I was backed up against the headboard, frozen with fear. I stared at the energy whose form appeared at the end of the bed. This was not the Hans I knew. This creature had no substance. This image of Hans appeared as a ghostlike apparition.

How many lives does an immortal have? I certainly did not know. In my dream, Hans told me that his body was taken, but not his soul, and that he was trapped between two worlds. So Hans had become a ghost. He still had powers, though they were greatly diminished.

Then Hans spoke. Caitlynn, he said. You must pull yourself together. There is much work to be done.

I will remember the sound of that voice until the day I die. Hans' voice was deep and smooth. It still had a tranquilizing effect on me. Hans' ghostlike apparition spoke to me through pure energy. I was just suddenly aware of Hans' communication. The thought of being in the presence of a ghost was disturbing, but I was actually relieved to be communicating with Hans. There were a million questions I wanted to ask, and yet I could not speak! I could not get a sound to come out of my mouth. I realized I was holding my breath. I exhaled. It was quiet in the room. Hans waited patiently in silence.

    You're a ghost? I asked.

Yes, Hans replied. I have returned to Earth.

    Have you seen Juliette?

    Yes, I have.

Can you help bring Juliette out of this horrible state she's in? I asked.

I can with your help. Hans paused. The apparition rippled. It became still again. Hans appeared to be listening for something or someone. We must be careful, said Hans. I will say this only once.

Hans began to explain his current state of being. He was able to communicate his thoughts but unable to be part of the physical world. The vision I saw of Hans was all Hans could be in the physical world. He told me, just like he came to me in my dream, he would approach Juliette the same way. There were things he needed to say to Juliette, and he was not sure how she would respond. He needed my help to address Juliette's physical needs. I wasn't quite sure I could help, but if it meant getting out of my current predicament, I was willing to try.

I got out of bed and walked across the room to get a robe. I was self-conscious of my nudity. Technically Hans had no eyes, but I could still feel his energy upon me. After I put on a robe, I left my room and walked down the hall to go to Juliette's room. Hans' energy was behind me as I walked down the hallway. Juliette's room was one level below mine.

When I arrived at Juliette's bedroom, I opened the door, and immediately, I felt cold air from the room, cold like a refrigerator. It was a very large room that had been painted baby blue.

    I stood there for a
