About this ebook

The Christian walk is a walk of faith, which entails having strong belief in the Word of God without wavering, making declarations of the Word, and living by the Word of God. In trusting God and his words, believers cannot entertain fear. This means we must step out in faith to live the God-given supernatural life even when we feel afraid.

Over the years, the writer has been on this faith journey. In this book, she shares her experiences with the Lord and how faith in Christ and the Word of God have given her victories.

    About the Author

Standing on the Word of God

AChristian's walk with God is fully dependent on faith in God. That is trusting God fully in all areas of life. Scriptures say, without faith, it is impossible to please him (God), for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Since the Christian life or spirit-filled life is a life of faith, then it is imperative we walk by faith and not by sight. Faith therefore comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. This means that the more you hear the Word of God, the more your faith increases. Faith is also the hand with which we receive whatever God has made available to us through Christ Jesus. As children of God, our faith must always be in the mercies and the faithfulness of God. The mercies of God are new every morning; his faithfulness endures forevermore.

Scriptures say that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. We must know that every blessing comes from God, through Jesus Christ because of his love for us. For this reason, it is not by our power, intelligence, or human efforts that we have the blessings we have, although we must work hard; it is by the grace of God. Anyone who steps out in faith can have the blessings of God.

However, having faith alone is not enough; we need to put our faith into action, for faith without works is dead. Consequently, some believers receive the blessings, and others do not. God is no respecter of persons. Apart from this, there are other principles or laws that govern how we receive from the Lord.

Before we can receive something from the Lord, we first must know what the Lord has made available for us, his children. We know that all the promises of God are being fulfilled in Christ Jesus. In Christ dwells the fullness of God. Since we have Christ in us due to our union with him, we also have the fullness of God in us.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. (Colossians 2:9)

Therefore, everything that makes God who he is, we, children of God, have that in us. So we lack nothing. If we know this, we will have confidence in the Lord, knowing that he has given us all things that pertains to life and godliness because Jesus in us is the real blessing. Therefore, in Christ, we have all the blessings of God.

All the blessings of God are embedded in the Word of God. The Word of God is the will of God. Scriptures say, Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. The Word of God is the will of God, so the Lord will not do what is not his will. Hence, for us to know his will, we must know what the Word of God says.

For this reason, the Lord does not do anything outside his will. He is bound by his Word. Anything apart from this makes God a liar, which we know he is not. Scriptures say he is not a man that should lie, nor the Son of Man that should repent. His words are yes and amen. God watches over his words to perform them. He does what he says. The Word of God also says God has exalted his word above his name. This indicates how important God's words are to him.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)

The Word of the Lord shall surely come to pass, but we must have faith in the Word. Without faith, the Word will not profit us.

The book of Hebrews says that for unto us, the gospel was preached, as well as unto them, but the word preached did not profit them not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. When believers have faith or believe in the Word of God, it is then that power is drawn from God to solve whatever situation they may be facing.

The woman with the issue of blood had heard about Jesus and the mighty works he did, so she had great faith that if she could only touch the fringe of his garment, she would be healed. She was not looking for Jesus to lay hands on her; she went to draw to get her healing because of the strong faith she had in Jesus. Irrespective of the crowd of people around Jesus, he knew power had gone out of him. It was the faith of the woman that gave her the victory (Luke 8:45–48). It is our faith that brings the expedient.

And he said unto her, daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole, go in peace. (Luke 8:48)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. (Hebrews 11:1–2)

We do not have to see to believe. If that were so, we will be acting in the flesh as in walking by sight. The things we see are made from the things we do not see. This makes the spiritual things more real than the physical things. Before we see our blessings in the physical, we must see in the spiritual first. So we believe we have what we need, and we hold on to our confession until it materializes.

Scriptures say, let the redeemed of the Lord say so. You may be having symptoms and seeing physical evidence of your situation; however,
