Dedication
I write this for my family, my brother, my sister, my father, my mother, and all my patients whom I have had the privilege to serve.
I hope to give you a glimpse of the heart of nursing or the absolute selflessness needed to be unbiased and see past the exterior to be there with you, for you, your advocate.
A special dedication to my sister,
Amy, whose profound emotional depth can be found in the poetry contained within.
May the angels give you and brother Joe wings to soar.
May your heart find the peace you search for.
May you both rest in peace.
The Dandelions
In patches of soft gold and green,
The meadows are a lovely scene.
The gentle feel of misty dew
Will cling to me and clean me through.
The morning sun does slowly rise,
And underneath the golden skies,
I’ll run through meadows soft and green
And fill my soul with golden sheen.

I have decided you, my patient, should understand the reason behind the why.

During the day, in the evening, and all night long, I am here for you.
I am always near to ease your pain, answer your questions, or be a sounding board for your anger, frustration, and loss of control, guilt, or sadness.
I endure the wrath of your family, your spouse, your children, and your physicians. I still come back each day to be with you, my patient.
Why?
My head is tired, my feet ache, and my heart is heavy at the end of each day. Yet tomorrow I will be back to work, by your side with a smile and a shoulder to
