INTRODUCTION

I am a great believer in not believing anything about mediumship - until its true relevance and authenticity becomes crystal clear to me. Over the decades of my mediumship journey, many beliefs have changed. The books I read, the videos I watched, the students I taught and the teachers I listened to - could never convince me, unless I knew in my soul something was my truth.

I honour those teachers, because even when I disagreed, it confirmed the direction I was currently travelling. This is also true of my experience with clairvoyance. With a quest for truth, I encouraged all who came to learn with me, to find theirs too.

Clairvoyance is steeped in mystique and scepticism, with equal measure. A common association is of the fairground, fortune telling women. The negative perception is that they take your money and tell you random, generalised information. Any chance of the information being specific, or correct, is considered a lucky guess.

Yet this is just one of several negative perceptions, of something that is actually a beautiful, vast, interesting method of innate communication. It is true there are clairvoyant charlatans in our midst. It is true we have fraudulent doctors, plumbers, and priests too. It is also true that there are profoundly accurate mediums, with highly developed clairvoyant ability, working with integrity.

The most important aspect of clairvoyant work is that we question it, decipher and try to understand as much as possible. I instil a work ethic of not accepting anything until it is your truth, when I teach. Like the Buddha, don’t believe me. Believe yourself when you know it from within. You can only believe, when you explore your subject, put it to the test, and it finds its place within your soul.

I like to break things down to understand better and study the components. I’ve always had a practical mind, which complements my spiritual beliefs. I need to know how and why something works and when it doesn’t.

I teach with many analogies, so we have a measure of how a concept becomes our reality. This inspires me to explore and to write, plus it helps it to become relatable.

Every book is a journey of experiences, knowledge, and the opportunity to delve into new worlds of thought. From here I discover new pathways of sharing the discoveries.

Clairvoyance, also known as second sight, is the ability to perceive information beyond the physical senses, via mental images. As individuals, our senses, whether physical or within the mind, are experienced uniquely. All I can do as a writer/teacher, is share my insights and hope that with your experiences too, we all add to the vast invisible pool, of collective consciousness.

In this book, we will delve into the fascinating world of clairvoyance, exploring its history, theories, and practices. Some may wonder why this isn't a general book on mediumship and the multifaceted faculties of mediumship experiences. Why focus on just one aspect when you can have them all?

Every component of mediumship needs scrutiny if we are to believe and trust it. If we approach mediumship because it is either true or false, rather than a collection of natural complex experiences, we overlook the importance of it. We miss the vital and fascinating interplay of the mind, brain, body, and soul. We are in danger of overlooking the significance of the complex components that make mediumship a holistic experience, and trivialising it. Mediumship is a whole or holistic experience, but to understand it, is to break it down and study the relevance of every facet and why each is so important.

If we do overlook an important factor, how can we nurture it, understand it, respect it, and find out where we stand with it? How can we teach or nurture the mediums of tomorrow, if we don’t know the power and significance of every aspect we are working with?

We may find a simple analogy in a recipe for a meal. The result is a culmination of different ingredients, energy, timing, methods steps, presentation, testing and individual opinions about palatability. Every aspect is understood by the chef who created it.

I find a beautiful analogy, for clairvoyance in Kintsugi. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese practice of mending broken pottery. By utilising a tree sap-based adhesive to put the pieces back together, the cracks and fissures are emphasised with a gold lacquer. Rather than attempting to conceal the broken pieces, the restored item is revered for its imperfections and becoming whole again. Yet every piece must be glued into its correct place - or it won’t look right. Every shape must fit. Individual attention must be given to every part of the broken vase, to transform it and make it beautiful again.

The wholeness of mediumship, is the sum of all its many parts. We need to know the how, the what and the why of all those parts and in our own way, bring them back together as a beautiful work of art. The analogies apply to all forms of mediumship and to master any craft, we must understand all the ingredients, gather the individual pieces, give them the correct space and bind them with precious links to each other.

I have explored clairvoyance, because communicating with visual imagery, is one of the most powerful, natural forms of communication, which overcomes language barriers. It is universal.

I believe it's essential that we give it our full focus. Other mediumistic abilities will naturally interact, but it's important that we take the time to focus on one facet at a time and do it justice.

The predecessors of modern-day psychics and prophets, including evidential mediums, were known for their abilities to commune with the so-called dead and ‘read’ the souls of the living. Clairvoyance had a significant place in their work and how many humans communicate, (especially between those from the spirit world and with those who still inhabit their living, physical bodies).

Sceptics of clairvoyance may counter their arguments with examples from psychology and neuroscience. From a personal and professional perspective, I argue that genuine clairvoyance, differs from the medical and scientific theories, as set out today.

Everything in life is a hypothesis, and I am dedicated to tracing and testing the origins of these hypotheses I do this both from a personal experience, whilst understanding and including the perspectives of others. Together we are a powerful force and might find a common ground.

Whether you are a highly sceptical sceptic, or a fervent believer, this book may increase your understanding and appreciation of the potential for clairvoyance, and how it might deepen our understanding of universal communication. We discover satisfying, confident conclusions, when we trust and believe in our innate, natural, authentic experiences.

The history of clairvoyance and its role in prophecy is one that has fascinated the minds of people for centuries. From Nostradamus, Edgar Cayce, Baba Vanga, and the Oracles of Delphi. These figures have been studied by many with an interest in the supernatural, to uncover their secrets.

Clairvoyants access information beyond what is normally perceived possible, by many people. They are said to be able to read auras and experience visions.

The ability to interpret dreams and foresee events was seen as a special gift from divine sources such as gods, or spirits, in many ancient societies. This notion was so powerful that it shaped entire belief systems around prophets. Today, we know that clairvoyant ability is possible for most of us, regardless of religious affiliation.

In the journey of this book, we take into consideration the psychic and neurological principles that are involved in clairvoyance, and techniques for enhancing our internal vision. I also include some of my own personal experiences of clairvoyant phenomena and how my own brain anomalies have been an asset to understanding my clairvoyance. I do believe that personal experience, holds the key to unravelling, some of the current academic thought regarding clairvoyance.

We discuss the ethics and responsibilities that should be observed with clairvoyance. I also provide some practical exercises (ACTIONS) throughout, to help you empower and strengthen your own natural inner vision. Plus, a couple more exercises are added at the end of the book too.
