Chapter 1

There's absolutely no way, no how, that I'm obeying this supposed lockdown order or whatever they call it. I'm 19, and this is how they expect me to spend the last two months of my senior year locked in my dad's best friend's home?

Let me explain. My parents were on a month-long cruise in Europe when the lockdowns happened. And even though I'm 19, and could easily stay on my own, they insisted that I stay with my dad's best friend, Hank, while they're gone.

But if I have to do nothing but hang out with Hank for the next two months, I'll lose my freakin mind.

Fortunately, he isn't paying much attention to me right now. He's working from home and very busy. If I wanted to sneak out in the middle of the night, which I do, I could probably get away with it, and he'll never know.

Several of us plan to meet at midnight in the woods to party. We're trying to keep it quiet, so we don't attract unwanted attention. We've heard of other teenagers hosting these huge parties where the cops come in and arrest everyone, which would suck.

Nope, we're not that stupid. We're keeping it small so we don't get caught. The plan is to crawl out the bedroom window and walk down the street, where my friend Noel will pick me up and take me to the party. Easy peasy.
