I would like to dedicate this book to everyone that felt they didn’t have the strength or the gumption to go after what they want in their life. My personal friend, who’s also my PA, came up with the idea of a little person turning into a massive dragon and asked me to write it. The idea nagged in my head, and I finally decided to sit down and come up with an outline.
I sat with some other authors, and we bounced ideas off one another to create an entire world for my little person, Jake. Being a little person didn’t stop him, slow him down, or hinder his goals in life, a sheriff’s deputy, and the love of a good woman. Of course, being a dragon helped, but don’t we all have a dragon in us? My hubby is a little bit shorter than I am and I have learned that the smaller the person, the mightier the sword. And my hubby has quite the sword.
Ahem. Okay enough small talk and enough dirty talk. Let’s get to reading. This book is for Jena Furr… For without you I would not have written this book.
To my hubby, for help with all the *cough, cough* …research.
And to all the Little People… Find your dragon, sharpen your sword, and take over the world. Because you all have a big dragon in you. Let him out.

Prologue
Iridescent waves shimmered in the air as the South Texas heat lay over the dark green grass. Spring had erupted in the form of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes that covered the land in large patches of blues, purples, and reds. The dark orb of the evening sun began to set behind pink clouds as the first star shone in the sky.
A roar pierced the quiet. A massive red dragon sat atop of the local castle of Destiny, Texas, a place where tourists could experience everything the beautiful Hill Country landscape had to offer. Jake Ryuu, the dragon’s human, lived in the castle. The fact that a dragon was supposed to live there was meant to be a secret; however, the locals began to profit from that secret
by offering tours around the perimeter of his home. After a while, Jake began to get tired of running people off and decided to profit from the tours as well. From nine to five, while he was at work, there was a guide that collected reservations and gave tours.
Ryuu, the name the human gave him, let out another roar as a familiar scent filled his nostrils. He narrowed his eyes towards the horizon and spotted his favorite miniature purple dragon. She was about the size of an eagle, small compared to the red’s own massive size. Purple filled his vision as she flew in front of his face and nuzzled her head against his snout. Ryuu began to relax as they rested together on the top of his castle and watched the sun set into the horizon
Darkness filled the sky as they took off from the castle turret. Ryuu watched as she flew 360s around him, diving, and landing on his massive red back when she needed a rest. He first found his mate four weeks ago, splashing in a lake. Ryuu landed hard which caused the land to quake under his large mass. He knew right away that she was his mate and that he needed to strut and show off his prowess. He wasn’t too sure how many dragons there were left in the world, but he didn’t want to take the chance of her finding a new mate. She told him her name was Kaida and the rest was history.
They began to fly toward their favorite riverbank. Ryuu slowed and flew in for a landing. He landed with a thud and dust floated into the air causing him to sneeze. A flame shot out from his mouth setting a small tree on fire. A barking had him turning his massive head toward Kaida. She was laughing, rolling on the ground next to him. Ryuu huffed at her and dove into the deep river water, splashing both her and the tree. The only fire that action dimmed was the one on the tree.
He tried to get her to tell him who her human was so he could find her, so they could mate properly. The human and dragon must come together in both forms in order to become true mates. Ryuu and Kaida were both living a half-life because she refused to reveal who her human was.
Ryuu climbed out of the river and laid on the hot grass to dry. His sleek, red body shimmered under the moon that now hung high in the sky. He felt her climb up onto his chest and curled up into a small ball. He breathed in her salty aroma as she slept and then closed his own eyes.
Ryuu was a red fire dragon, the last of his kind that he knew of. He wasn’t quite sure what kind of dragon Kaida was. She seemed to love the water, but she didn’t look like any water dragon that he’d ever seen. Her purple scales were unlike anything he’d ever encountered. She was also the smallest dragon he’d ever come across. It didn’t matter how small she was or what kind of dragon she is, he only
