This book is dedicated to my children – Joshua, Genevieve and Blossom – who inspired this work from its inception.

    Acknowledgment

I would like to offer a special word of gratitude to my beloved mentor, Dr. Wayne Dyer. Though we never met, your thoughts and words have brought light into otherwise unilluminated regions of my life.

To Ken Roberts – thank you for being a tireless example of kindness and constant thought of others – and for demonstrating simple yet profound spiritual principles in action.

To Stephanie Straubhar – you have believed in this work from the beginning. You are my friend for life. Now we carry the message of light to the world.

    Introduction

This book is a collection of thoughts and insights which are the result of simply seeking and embracing timeless universal truths. They are a celebration and amalgamation of perennial philosophy – drawn from the wisdom of The Vedas, The Bible, Bhagavad Gita, Tao Te Ching and other spiritual writings. Their intent is to compel introspection and to affect a shift – over time – in the consciousness of the reader. The only way to change the world is to change one’s self. And the only way to change one’s self is to change one’s thoughts. It is my prayer that the writings contained in this volume will assist you in the change you seek. For it is not the power of these words – or even the thoughts, concepts or truths therein that will affect change in you. Rather, it is the God-given desire to go beyond that which we presently are that affects change.

The premise for this work, being spiritual in nature, makes mention of God in a variety of forms. Creator, Source, Universe, Great Architect, God – all of these refer to the Divine Intelligence responsible for the visible Universe, which propagates from invisible realms. There are quotes from Jesus, Buddha, and many others in this work. I have no interest in promoting or proselytizing for any denomination or religious sect or branch. I count myself among a growing number of seekers who wish to sidestep dogmas and doctrines and focus on the essence of truth – in order that a spiritual experience may take place.

The reader will also find many references to science and scientific research in this document. I, among many others, see a direct correlation between scientific advancement and discovery – and a closing of the gap between materialism and spirituality. The work of the Creator can be seen through the electron microscope AND the extraterrestrial telescope.

Approach with an open mind, and you will find here nothing of offense – only the musings of one who seeks to better understand the nature of Being.

May the one true God – whose name is LOVE – open our hearts of understanding, and operate through us – to bring into this realm more Love, more Joy, and more Peace.

    Thank you. I love you.

    Who Am I?

Who are you, really? You are the intention behind your thoughts. You are the observer of the thoughts. You may like to believe that you are the originator of the thoughts – but in order to believe this you must accept, in utter naivety, that society has no influence in shaping what you think. Many studies have shown otherwise. But it is your intention toward thought that is the source of power within you.

By understanding the nature of this intention – and how to harness and direct it – you can begin the lifelong journey of becoming the master of your own thoughts. What are your wishes and desires – at the deepest core level? Do you make a practice of even noticing these?

Many people have suggested that you and I have been lulled into a sort of slumber, which affords us the latitude to work and to enjoy entertainment, but defies and weakens our interest in tuning in to our Higher Self – our True Self. George Carlin suggested that we are encouraged to be smart enough to work and produce money – which is meant to be transferred to others by one means or another – but that we are discouraged from becoming free, critical, imaginative thinkers. Whether this is part of some grand conspiracy to relieve us of our hard-earned dollar is a matter of opinion. What we do know to be true is that it has become altogether commonplace to focus our attention on temporal satisfactions and dismiss completely any pursuit of the truth about who we really are.

Your body is changing every single second. In fact, it is changing so profoundly that when you understand the scientific descriptions about how quickly and fundamentally your body is changing, you cannot possibly continue to cultivate – with any conviction – that you ARE your body. And science goes even further. Not only are you not your body – you aren’t even IN your body. Rather, your body is in YOU. The electro/magnetic field that you generate completely consumes your body – and extends about nine feet around your body.

So who are you, really? You are an ineffable essence, temporarily occupying an ever-changing body and constantly evolving in consciousness. You are the seat of intuition and knowing. You are a vastly complex concentration of awareness – from the imagination of a Creator who is perfectly and utterly beyond comprehension. And your awareness, at certain levels, operates like an antenna – sending and receiving information energy within dimensions of fields which are only just beginning to be explored by science.

You are the bearer of fierce power – intended for use to the good of all humanity and all of nature. As we begin to pay attention to this Higher Self, our ability to manifest those things and conditions which we desire from deep within can be developed and directed. This is no new age philosophy. It has been spoken of and written about for millennia by mystics, prophets and spiritual masters – including Jesus, who is clearly the most significant figure to have ever lived on this earth. Neville (Goddard) urged us to assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled. This echoes Jesus’ teaching ask and believe, and it shall be done unto you. But this is not a game of name it – claim it. Intention is a much more primordial force than a surface level confession of I am a millionaire. Intention has much more to do with an uncorroded connection to Source – and a deep understanding that there is unlimited power available to the surrendered vessel.

    Who are you, really?

    Much Love.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Jesus Christ – who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. –Phil 2:5–6

    Words

For by your words you shall be justified – and by your words you shall be condemned.

When you speak, you are creating a loop of perfect resonance. Your air waves vibrate up from your diaphragm, across your vocal cords – through your throat and up into your mouth – where you form them into words – words which vibrate across your lips in plainly discernible frequencies. You then hear these words as they are being uttered, by way of these vibrations cascading across your ear drums and the intricate componentry of your hearing apparatus. This perfect resonance is unequaled in its effectiveness in creating a messaging loop in which you bask – as these vibrations crescendo together in your mind. The impact of this – were we able to immediately observe it – would be astonishing.

God spoke – uttered – vibrated – imagined – with intention and purposeful force – and there was light. This image appears in many of the holiest books on Earth.

Can your words be used to manifest a Mercedes in your driveway? Probably, over time. But there can be no question, if you are at all observant, that your words presently manifest your mood – your disposition – your outlook. How frequently do we blindly color our own perception through idle and thoughtless words? Perhaps there is a better way.

The stewards in Jesus’s parable were judged on the basis of how they invested what they had been given. We have been given enormous power through imagination, intention and words. What return do we have in mind as we invest these?

Let him that hath ears hear.

Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

Change your mind about the words you speak. Especially when they begin with I Am or You Are. These are powerful indicators – speaking to the very Being of your highest self – and to that same essence of those to whom you speak them. Ought we go about with fear and trembling, lest we utter a word out of sorts? No. But we certainly ought to consider carefully throughout our day the impact our words have upon others – and primarily, upon ourselves. For once we have formed a habit of observing our self-talk, we will almost certainly begin to observe how we talk to, and about, others. Nothing in this Universe can match the creative power of thoughtfully intended words.

    Much Love.

    Two Wolves

In Native American culture there is a metaphor in which wolves are used to described the dichotomy of human nature. The elder explains, In each of us, are two wolves – each quite different from the other. One cares about others, loves them – performs selfless acts and takes care of the Earth. The other is selfish and cares only for what it wants, with little thought for others. These two wolves battle, and eventually, one will prevail. The young student asks, How can I know which wolf will win? to which the elder replies, The wolf you feed – this wolf will win.

The lower self is in constant thought of itself. It cares little to consider the needs or feelings of others. It always calls for more – for dominance – for satisfaction – and for attention – Notice Me! It absolutely cannot be satisfied – will not be silenced – and refuses to submit to direction or intuition if these are opposed to its immediate desires. This wolf can be given all it could ever want, and will remain fundamentally unhappy. Incapable of true inner joy or serenity, it seeks only to stimulate its senses and its appetite – and must move from exhilaration and pleasure to still more of the same, as this is the only joy it knows – though this is not joy at all – but rather, a sad and tragic impostor.

The Higher Self calls from within to quiet the chattering voices which call for constant exhilaration and pleasure. This Self considers the needs and feelings of others – doesn’t always have to be first – doesn’t adhere to selfish indulgence – doesn’t put others down in order to lift itself up. The Higher Self calls for and appreciates quiet reflection – does not balk at self-review, but understands that growth can only come from a willingness to see areas upon which one can improve. This Self understands that surrender is the path to inner peace and abiding joy – and that giving oneself for others is the way to true satisfaction. Which wolf will you feed today?

    Much Love.

    Looking Past the Answer

We ask what the body is made from – and looking past the miracle before us, we dissect the body and discover the cell. Wanting to see what the cell is made from – we look past the miracle before us. We dissect the cell and discover the DNA. What is the DNA made from? we ask – looking past the miracle before us. We dissect the DNA and discover the atom. We dissect the atom – looking past the miracle before us – and find the quarks. Incapable now of seeing the miracle before our eyes, we dissect the quark and find that at the bottom of all matter – is energy, expressing itself intelligently – and we say in our arrogance We have discovered all mysteries and there are no miracles here to see.

Truth be told, we can know what everything is made of and not be able to tell you the first thing about why it works the way it does. No one can give you one meaningful sentence to explain how consciousness might arise from the brain (because it doesn’t), yet the students of neuroscience find great difficulty in believing that there is an organizing Intelligence behind all that is.

The miracles of life are before your very eyes, today and every day – if you would but see them. The evidence of an omnipotent, benevolent, loving Creator is around us all – in overwhelming oceans of evidence. Watch the wind move through the trees. Lose yourself in the beauty of the carved stones and mountains of the desert. Become mesmerized by the rhythms of the ocean. Watch the clouds, in their choreographed dance in the sky. Watch a short video explaining the replication process of DNA. Allow yourself to be present in these moments. Allow your mind to be blown at the richness and beauty and creativity in and behind these fingerprints of the Great Architect. Allow your eyes, your mind, your soul – to feast on the overwhelming abundance of miracles all around you at all times. You will feel yourself energized and filled with wonder that the answers are in front of you – plain for all to see. Dare to dismiss the dogmas of doctrine, theology and the like. Lend your mind to experience the wonders of God – and you will find answers to questions you haven’t even thought to ask.

    Much Love.

    The Spiritual Recipe

As below, so above. If we can take a simple concept and place it in our imagination, we can comprehend mysteries. Take the spiritual recipe for example: if I am making a cup of tea, I fill the cup to a particular level with water. I then add lemon juice and the fluid level in the cup rises a bit. As I add apple cider vinegar the level rises still more. Then the honey – who doesn’t love honey? Again, the level rises. Finally, a dash of cinnamon and my tea is ready to be stirred. As I
