A rcángel was a small peasant boy, the son of peasant parents, and both parents were from the same agricultural region of the Department, the population and the village, his parents only knew the town head of the Vereda, they had never gone to any other part of the world that they knew, the Village was composed mostly of relatives, parents, uncles, aunts, children, grandchildren, grandparents, grandmother, all of them several families known to each other, that is why Fernando´s sons and daughters married their sons or daughters Pedro, Gabriel, Saúl, and finally, whatever they were called, because the farms of each one of them were relatively close to each other, to each other, the peasant boys and girls all knew other and married each other all knew each other and married each other, very little the boy or girl, the girl who married another or another from another village or village, but if she speaks of a serious problem that they in their ignorance were unaware of and were the defects that occurred in the children when they married among relatives, Juan’s son with his cousin Pedro’s daughter, father´s brothers, or Pablo’s daughter who married Hugo, his father´s brother, there appeared the defects, then stupid children appeared, or crazy children, with mental retardations, or physical deformities and they blamed the midwives, or the changes of the moon, or the eclipse of the moon, or the sun, a storm, a lightning bolt, even thunder, in short, whatever thing or phenomenon they could throw at it. Fault, one of those cases was of Archangel.
Chrysostom, Arcángel’s father, was married to his cousin Celina, and Arcángel was the first child of the two, he was born a bobito, a kinship defect between his parents, but he had a great loving heart, from he learned to speak at about four years of age Arcángel was very tender with poultry: chicks, chickens, rooster and turkeys, that were the only animals that their parents with the little they earned could acquired, they had the animals in a small playpen in the back of the farming farm, the playpen was built with guadua cans, that the father cut with the machete and nailed them with a round stone, which with use was already allowed to be manipulated and was not so rough to the touch. Arcángel locked himself in that playpen with the poultry, as soon as his father left for the work cut in the coffee plantation, and his mother was employed in the house trades.
Arcángel had asked his father that when the hen began to heat the eggs and had chicks, he would give a chicken and a chick, to make his own pen, his father promised it, when the hen had 10 chicks that she had hatched and that were children of the Paschal rooster, a big polish rooster and that the chicks were feathered, he called Arcángel and he give him the chicken and the chick.
But Archangel was not so stupid, and he asked his father Chrysostom how he did to distinguish the chicken from the chick, the father told him that he was going to teach him how, he took one of the two chicks from the beak, they were in the air and the chick began to splash, and the Archangel father´s told him that that was the chick, because it had splashed when he hung it from the beak with his fingers, he immediately took the other chick and performed the same operation and it did not splash, he stayed still, he told him that that was the pullet.
Arcángel was amazed at the wisdom of his father and learned that lesson for a lifetime, at that time the Arcángel was six years old, the school on the sidewalk did not admit special children at that time, that is why Arcángel did not go the school. He was illiterate, but always with a great heart, from the lesson of the chicks that he learned from his father, Arcángel lived his short life happily, he himself made a playpen for his two chicks, he planted some corn and banana plants to feed them, the two chicks grew until they became a rooster and a hen, he named the hen broody, because it kept brooding eggs and the rooster called it Pascual, the banana chopped it and gave it to it with the corn, from this pair of birds they were born at least 30 chicks which Arcángel already knew how to classified, the chickens he gave to his father, but the chicks left them to lay more eggs and have more chicks.
Arcángel spoke to these little animals and it seemed that they understood him, where
