About this ebook
Black Woman's Guide to Surviving An Encounter With the Police is meant to be an informative read that speaks specifically to the Black Woman and to her unique challenges she face every day. It is my desire to empower Black Women so that they will no longer fear the police but hold her head up high while still upholding the laws of the land. And to teach women how not to be victims of racism and racial profiling any longer.

This is a journey of what I have learned-and AM learning-as I am being detoxed from what I call 'Churchanity.' As you read my blogs from 2005-looks like while STILL attending church-til now, you can see the growth. That journey I share with you here.

Introduction
My name is Wenona Russ. I am a 50-year old grandmother who lives in Knoxville, TN. I am not a native Knoxvillian; I moved here in 2013 from Connecticut, born and raised in the New Orleans area. I write this eBook with the utmost humility and gratefulness.
I know that D.L. Hughley has a book out about how not to get shot by the police. I have not had the pleasure of reading his book (yet) in that when I had my own experience with the police, it was still fresh and was dealing with how to get my life back and recoup from this life-changing event.
I am not a ‘hood rat.’
I am not a criminal.
I work 2, sometimes 3 jobs, to make ends meet and try to provide for my family.
I am a former licensed minister (I gave up ministry to care for my kids-one who is special needs).
Yet, on January 31, 2018, my life changed in a way I had not expected.
I feel it is important that I share my story and the wisdom I gained with BLACK WOMEN
in particular because we are a special breed. No
