About this ebook

Lily had just broken up with her boyfriend, Julien, and wanted nothing else but to get on with her life. Unfortunately, he didn't seem so inclined and started following after her, making his presence known wherever she appeared.

He even showed up at her building once and scared her as she prepared to get into her apartment, but then someone else intervened. Valerie was tall, beautiful and mysterious, and somehow Lily felt like she knew her. There was something between them, and Lily didn't know how to act around her.

She would soon find out that Valerie wasn't an angel on her shoulder though, but more of a devil, one with clear intentions for her. One that wanted all of her, her body, her soul and her blood.

    Vampire Love - Julie Law

    Chapter 1

Lily barely stopped herself from shivering as she took a glance around the entrance of her apartment’s building. It was cold, but that wasn’t why she was inclined to shiver. There was something wrong. She couldn’t say what, exactly, but something tickled at the back of her head, made her fear.

She bit her lip and hesitated before entering the building, feeling like a little fly about to fall into the spider’s web. Then she stilled, breathed for a moment, and ignored that feeling.

Everything was right in the world, nothing was waiting for her. She shouldn’t be afraid.

She managed to convince herself as she moved up the stairs. The elevator had broken down months ago, and as with everything in the building it hadn’t been fixed yet. Not that she could complain much about it when she barely paid anything for her apartment. If the place had been in better conditions, she wouldn’t have been able to afford it.

The key to her apartment was in her hand when she heard a noise that made her freeze, and she looked around, scared, hoping it was paranoia getting to her, but the person that walked out of the shadows towards her proved she wasn’t that lucky.

    Lily.

Julien, what the hell are you doing here? Lily eyed her ex-boyfriend with some apprehension, resisting the urge to look around and find a way to flee. It would be useless to ask for help, barely anyone lived in her building.

Not that Julien had ever harmed her, but she couldn’t imagine why he was there, at that time, in the dark. They had broken up barely two weeks before, and though he called her plenty of times she had always refused the calls. She hadn’t regretted breaking up with him either.

His eyes seemed almost feverish as he slowly closed the distance between them, and Lily tensed, eying her door, not wanting to step away from it and making it easier for him to get her. If she had to run, she would be safer inside her apartment, where she could lock herself in and call the police. Unfortunately, the time to try to rush past him passed as she watched him move closer and closer, and she cursed under her breath. It wasn’t loudly enough for Julien to hear her, but he must have noticed she wasn’t pleased.

His features became twisted for a moment, dark, and Lily swallowed.

You haven’t been answering my calls. His voice was soft, and seductive as always. For a moment, she wanted to close her eyes and let it wash over her, as she had done many times before, but a pretty voice wouldn’t keep her tied up to him.

She liked him, once upon a time she even believed she loved him, but there was always something missing. Still, it had taken her a long time to realize he wasn’t good for her, that neither of them was good for the other. He had some friends that weren’t the kind of friends she wanted, criminals, gang members, but she didn’t have enough courage to say anything about it.

Lily had her own problems, once upon a time drugs had been one of them, and she ended up pulling him into addiction. Eventually, she got out of it, and managed to drag him out as well, but she knew he had been slipping lately.

Neither of them had been good for the other, and the time she spent away from him allowed her to realize it. More than ever she was convinced she had done the right thing. Not that it didn’t hurt. It did, and that was the main reason why she had refused his calls, why she didn’t dare listen to his attempts at convincing her otherwise.

In a crappy world, he had been one of the best things to happen to her, but
