Why is our world so desperate for your life to function? More than that, for your life to operate at a level that impacts, restores, and influences? When our world loses its center, its compass, it becomes desperate and despondent. Welcome to today! We are living in a world that is in anguish because it needs someone—you— to show up, to work, to lead, to win, and to produce results that create healthy change.

In my five short decades on this planet, I cannot think of a time when our world was more desperate for your life to be healthy and productive. The world is desperate for your life to be optimized. It’s desperate for your life to be scaled and enlarged to the point where you have increased influence and impact.

If you’re reading this book, you’ve probably felt a desire to be a better, maybe even the best version of yourself. You might feel some sort of pull in your heart to live big, make an impact, and leave a legacy that impacts those you care about and outlasts your lifetime. Hopefully, you feel that upward call from God demanding more from your life’s expressions.

This same you that has dreams of impact and positive disruption may also have moments where it feels as if this world is too far gone to restore. Maybe we should just wait to go to Heaven for things to be good again. If we can just get people to Heaven, maybe that is all we can hope to accomplish. Could there be more? This book is designed to dive into the more this life requires from you. You are the solution God has created to address the world’s desperate state!

As you read this book, locate yourself on the dial of hope that needs to be turned up in each area of your life we’ll be addressing. Where are you currently placed in this world? Personally, I am a husband, a father, a friend, a business owner, a pastor, a coach, a competitor, a servant, a leader, an influencer, a brother, a son, a board member, a US citizen, a teammate, and an owner of two Bengal cats. I have found I can show up in any and all of these areas with hope, impact, and optimization. I can also show up dull, lackluster, weak, faithless, self-oriented, or distracted.

Our world is desperate for me and for you to show up as our most productive selves. This book is designed to help you identify the world you have been engineered to impact and how to optimize yourself to answer the bell.

As a Christian, I have been most heavy hearted over the loss of influence the right people have in our culture. We have slowly disengaged from the public square. We’ve abandoned the spheres of culture that have been desperate for our strength, our wisdom, our backbone, and our leadership. The world needs our creativity and innovation, our voice, and our fight.

At the writing of this book, I’m in the middle of transitioning into a new capacity. You might be in a bit of transition as well. It could be a transition to a new city, a new level of leadership, a new level of financial responsibility, or something else. All of us are on our way somewhere. This book is designed to help you take a pause for a few days or weeks and help you answer some questions about who you are and what you are here to be epic at. The content in this book is not designed to let you get off easy. It will push you, trigger you, and demand more from you.

This world needs more than an average, or even a slightly above average, version of you. It needs the authentic you. More than that, it needs the best version of that authentic you. Great leaders do not only work in their areas of influence and industry. The greatest leaders create and make the space to work on themselves. I believe you are called to be among the greatest of leaders.

This book will open your eyes to both the world that is in need of our engagement, as well as our remarkable engineering God intended to use for influence and preservation. God always designed us to be salt, flavorful, and potent.

Our Creator never dreamed or designed us to be vanilla, neutral, poor, powerless, or voiceless. Jesus never came to make us religious. He came to restore us to our effective, excellent engineering this world craves. This book is unapologetically written from a Christian perspective, but you will find we have intentionally left out any emphasis on religious rhetoric or cheap Christianeze. This book is designed intentionally with a professional language and perspective. Being that we have been in the business world for the last two plus decades, we cannot get away with cheap religious cliches. Sorry, my friend, your blessed and highly favored, brother (now say that with a good southern drawl) won’t cut it in the real world. You will need real results, real power, and real solutions.

I would like to double down here. If we have really checked every desired box in writing this book, we want to do more than step on a few religious toes. We prefer to stomp on and disrupt anything in you that has a form of religion but no power for positive effect in the real world. For a desperate world, the version of you who is operating in and with real power is the only version that will do. Now, doesn’t that sound a bit more like Jesus.

This book is written to help unlock your mandate to influence by experiencing what I like to call Convergence. Let’s begin the journey that awakens the optimized you this world is desperate for.
