The Divide - Wanda Jackson
Chapter One
Since December of 2016, the country has truly become divided. So much so that a wall was built separating the eastern side of the country from the western side. The eastern side of the wall was built along the western borders of Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The western side of the wall was along the eastern borders of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The president, Ivan Sidorova, is a Russian American. He was not born in the United States of America, but he has resided here since the age of two. The president grew up in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up with four siblings: two younger female siblings, an older brother, and an older sister.
The president has a first lady, Irina, and the couple has a two-year-old daughter whom they named Ivanka after Ivanka Trump. They were friends with the children of Donald Trump and got together with them on a regular basis.
America was never the same after the forty-fifth president. After 2021, there were threats of a second civil war. Hate crimes were on the rise across the country. White supremacists were winning seats in the Senate, and the Republican Party was in chaos.
The vice president, Kathleen Harrison, was an open white supremacist. She was never married and had adopted two boys when they were toddlers. Kevin was now sixteen years old, and Karl was eighteen years old. Some people say that she picked them out because their names started with the letter K, like her own name.
The west side of America was all white. The east side of America was composed of white, black, Latino, and Chinese people, as well as other nonwhites. In other words, the West Coast was segregated, and the East Coast was not. The states on the east side were Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Baltimore.
Arkansas and Louisiana were merged into one state, which was named Arksiana. The state was mainly full of all the homeless people on the east side of America. Next door to Arksiana was Mississippi. The state of Mississippi was a prison, Mississippi State Penitentiary. Most people leaving the prison found themselves in Arksiana. No one wanted the ruthless running around the states, causing mayhem. The prison held prisoners of all races and from both sides of America, although very few were allowed on the west side of America after their sentence was up.
Some of the people that were released into Arksiana after their prison sentences were true white supremacists who hated other races. Arksiana was a state of many races. Most of the former inmates were eventually moved to the west side of America.
The whole state of Tennessee was a military base. On the base was a lab, and the scientists there were working on top secret weapons of mass destruction. No one really knew what was going on in the lab.
The West Coast states were Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. The state of Alaska was half military and half prison for the elite, and Hawaii was an elite vacation spot.
Mostly Mexicans lived in Mexico, yet any race was welcome. Canada was also open to any race. America was the only country in the world that had divided races, and the whole world had seen it coming.
The new White House was in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The elite were mainly in Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, California, and Nevada. Poor white trash were mainly in Texas and Oklahoma, and a lot of Amish people had settled in Arizona. The military bases were in North and South Dakota, and the rest of the states were middle class.
The east and west sides of America were divided by two walls. The walls were made with graphene, along with other metals. They were unbreakable, and there were also four eight-hour shifts daily going out to over three hundred available soldiers.
Between the walls was six feet of space for security reasons. No one would have time to break through two walls.
There were also staff at every gate leading to and from the East or West and to Canada and Mexico. There were gates to Canada on the east and the west sides of America:
