lot of people have helped me to become a writer. I dedicated my first book to my Mother, Marguerite Quilleash Nelson, a professional proofreader in the days before computers. She encouraged my reading and my imagination. Jo Palmer, Clare Milne, John Balez, and a number of other teachers got me to write. The Sand Creek Writers Group, The All Souls Writers Group and the Pikes Peak Gay Writers all gave me the proper amount of critiques. Special thanks to Heidi, Logan and Rebecca. Thank you to those editors I have worked with at iUniverse and TopLinks. I am sorry I don’t remember your names. I have to keep a separate file of character names on my stories or I get them confused. I lost a story competition because I had three different names for my protagonist, and the story was less than two thousand words.

The Lorili Gets a New Mission
S
ome four hundred years ago when Earth discovered a way to travel faster than the speed of light. They were approached by the Mxtel and a trade and protective society that the Mxtel had founded. Due to some coincidences and an attempt at fairness one of the empty planets of the Earth’s solar system was ideal for a headquarters of this trade group, and as Earth’s languages were in the range that could be spoken and heard by all the members of the group English was adopted as the official language of what was now called the Confederated Sentient Peoples or CSP. The CSP have a military/exploratory arm called the federated fleet. The fleet commissions a variety of ships; scouts, packets and patrol. Trade and diplomatic ships are commissioned by the individual members of the CSP.

Captain,
Commander Wilson, the XO of the scout Lorili, called from the bridge, when the captain’s transmission to Earth was completed. Commander Yosserin came aboard fifteen minutes ago. He has some confidential mail.
He notified his boss about the packet commander’s arrival.
Come in Commander, sorry about the wait, you know what it’s like to make a call to Earth.
Yes, sir. I understand congratulations are in order. Where’s the lucky bride.
He looked at the sexy woman standing next to him.
You’ve met Leah. You were at her promotion ceremony.
He has never seen me in mooth.
She took the commander’s hand and said. Pleased to meet you again Commander, now you have a better understanding of why we on Mootoa keep thinking you’re female.
Oh! Wow! You’re Commander Marguerida?
Yes though that name might not be correct any more, we have to do some research and legal things.
Commander Yosserin got back to business. "These are not exactly confidential. Counselor Haxitda delivered them personally and had them out in the open. She said that she wanted to ensure that you got them personally. I told her that the best way for that would be to put them in a confidential pouch. She said it’s not secret. I told her it doesn’t matter. She read them to me before she sealed them in
