About this ebook

How far would you go to get revenge?

Sam Wilkins is an up-and-coming Chicago lawyer. He’s rich, handsome, married. And a cheater.

He has a type. Beautiful, dark-haired, blue-eyed women. One of them decides she doesn’t want to share.

A bartender tells her about Jesse’s Taco Truck in Melrose Park. How she could get a gun if she asks for the daily special. Everything seems to be falling in place—until the stun gun. She could have changed her mind then. She could have walked away. But when best laid plans go astray, turn to Plan B.

They found her wedding ring in Bemis Woods. A woman walking her dog spotted it in the brush near the trail, a glint of gold as the sun hit it.

It wasn’t until the woman reached down to pick it up that she noticed it was still attached to a finger.

You never know what you’re capable of until you’re up against a wall. When someone threatens your life, your very existence, everything you’ve worked for. I can’t expect to be forgiven for what I’ve done, but I do expect there are those out there who can understand.

I need to tell my story. Some might not believe me. They’ll call me an unreliable narrator. They’ll say I’m a psychopath. Those are labels we slap on people when they’ve done something we don’t think we’d do ourselves.

Tell me that when I’m done.

I’ll start with the taco truck. It’s not the beginning of the story, but it’s a critical part.

Marco, the tall dark-haired bartender at The Three Crowns, told me about Jesse’s Taco Truck one night when I’d been drinking alone. How you could get a gun instead of a taco if you knew exactly how to ask. I thought he’d been bullshitting me at first, trying to get into my pants, but when I looked more closely, I’d seen truth in his eyes. Which is why I called the bar and said I was interested in
