About this ebook

Luther knew that love existed. It existed because she brought it to his world every single day.

The plan for his life was shaping up just as he wished it to, and he and his friends had all that anybody could possibly wish for at their ripe young ages.

But things aren't always what they seem.

Daphne has almost everything that she could've ever dreamed of.

Her sister's back in town, she has the perfect boyfriend, her grades are amazing and her future seemed to be heading in just the direction that she intends.

Or is it?

When a bombshell is dropped on them both, Daphne and Luther find themselves faced with a problem that they've never encountered before. One that draws them so far apart, even their strong relationship may not prove tough enough to withstand it.

In this prequel for The Playing With Fire series, travel back in time to the place where it all started, where everything seemed as appealing as it could be when one looked from the outside, but was nothing but trouble in reality.

Where this young couple is stuck asking themselves …

HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO FOR LOVE?

    Daphne

The sun was setting over the trees behind the lake. I sat at the edge of the boardwalk and sighed deeply through my nostrils. For the first time in a very long time, I was content—no—that wasn’t the right word. That was an understatement. I was happy. Yes, I was happy. Happier than I’d ever been in my entire life.

Lilly had come home yesterday for spring break and we had spent all of last night catching up. God, it felt so good to have my sister back. For too long, I’d survived on the pictures that we had stuck on my wall together. Speaking of, I had to clean up some new space on that wall sometime soon to make room for the new pictures we’d take over the break and subsequent summer.

It wasn’t only pictures of her that hung there, though. There were so many of Luther as well, and a few of his friends, but mainly because he was in them.

Luther had his arm around me now and I closed my eyes at the perfection of this moment.

It’s more beautiful than I thought it would be, I murmured.

I felt him kiss my hair. No, it’s as beautiful as it’s always been and will always be.

Though I would’ve given anything not to ruin the moment, there was something that I’d been needing to tell him that seemed to always get stuck in the back of my throat every time that I tried. I loved Luther with everything in me.

And though my heart belonged to him entirely, a piece of it would always be broken because that piece would always be wherever Lilly was. I loved my sister and I wanted to be closer to her. It was killing me every night that I had to spend with my fighting parents.

Mom was always saying that she found new evidence linking dad to some bullshit and dad was always telling her that she was either crazy or nosy for going through his things. I didn’t pay much attention to what they were fighting over. But they seemed
