    Taking my jacket off and setting my purse down, I sat back in my office chair. I opened my laptop, powered it on, and rubbed the temples of my forehead. Dinner could wait, of course. I had reservations with Fred, but any excuse to get out of that thing was welcomed. So, an additional twenty minutes would make no real difference, right? If I made it to dinner with him, if I didn’t? He could tell me off, tell me he never wanted to see me again, and we could finally go our separate ways.
