1.4 End of Life support
The End of Life support is as shown in the following table (as defined in the URL link in section 1.3):
Table 1.5: The table of End of Life dates for DB2 versions
1.5 Compatibility matrix URLs
For IBM FileNet 5.2.0, 5.2.1, and 5.5.0 systems, you can dynamically generate up-to-date system requirement reports by using the IBM software product compatibility reports using the URL http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/prodguid/v1r0/clarity/softwareReqsForProduct.html.
Enter the search string IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.5.5.
Then, select version 5.5.5 from the dropdown (for compatibility with IBM Cloud Pak for Automation V20.0.0.1). Note that there are later versions, currently up to 5.5.8 for standalone versions of IBM FileNet Content Manager.
Figure 1.8: The main version selections for the compatibility matrix report search
Select a subset of the Compatibility options (as required). We selected the Linux Operating system only, and the following server components:
Configuration Manager
Content Platform Engine
Content Platform Engine Bulk Import Tool
FileNet Deployment Manager
Thick Client Process Designer
For the Containers, we selected just two of the options:
Content Platform Engine Container
Content Services GraphQL
For the capabilities section, we selected Databases and Java SDK. And for the final All Supported services, we selected:
Runtime Environment
Reporting and Analysis
Content Sources
Accessibility
Then, just click on the Submit command button to generate an example Compatibility Matrix report. The Operating system tab shows that RedHat Linux 8.0 base is supported. Also, there is a link to the list of Linux additional library packages that are required (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/713759)
The pre-requisites tab of the Compatibility Matrix report has a table showing that most releases of DB2 from 10.5 onwards are compatible with IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.5.5 (Though it should be noted that the EOL on the DB2 version may mean some of the DB2 version components won't be fully supported!)
Table 1.6: The list of supported DB2 versions from the Compatibility Matrix report
1.6 RedBook URL locations
There is a Free Download of this Red Book covering DB2 10.1 (note that this is an early version, no longer supported by IBM):
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg248032.html?Open
Unleashing DB2 10 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows (August 2012)
ISBN 0738437107
This book is 10 years old and designed to illustrate examples of DB2 features, such as security, adaptive data compression, and the advantages of STT (system-period temporal tables) and BTT (Bitemporal temporal table) example designs.
It also covers the parallels with the Oracle Database system and comparative SQL structures and commands to enable migration to Db2. The version of DB2 at 10.1 is also very dated (2012) compared to the versions 10.5 through to 11.5 covered in this book.
1.7 ResearchGate publications
The list of our relevant DOI referenced publications on ResearchGate is as follows:

The DOI URL to the ResearchGate publications always has a prefix of http://dx.doi.org/ to which is appended the first column suffix, for example http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.34136.93449 for download of the Audit System setup:
Table 1.7: The ResearchGate publication list and relevant pages for DB2
1.8 Compatibility issues and support limitations for the products listed
See section 1.5 Compatibility Matrix URLs, for details, for IBM FileNet 5.2.0, 5.2.1, and 5.5.0 systems, you can dynamically generate up-to-date system requirement reports by using the IBM software product compatibility reports.
1.8.1 Supporting database, web application, and operating system version limitations for the products
The Content Search is sometimes required to be Case Insensitive; the following procedure can be followed to implement this. This procedure will allow search text entered to find and retrieve an IBM Content Manager Document using one of the document properties to match the required property held in the DB2 database, irrespective of how the Case of the text is held.
So, for example, if a document's Publisher property was searched using the text bpb publications, then this would still return all documents matching the text even if the actual Publisher property for the document on the Database was held as BPB Publications.
Support for DB2 10.5 LUW or later requires Content Platform Engine 5.2 FP2 or later.
To create an expression-based index for a class property, when force case-insensitive search is in effect, the steps are as follows.:
Connect to the object store database by using the appropriate DB2 database tool.
Run a command with the following syntax:
CREATE INDEX idx_name ON table_name(LOWER(column_name))
Where the table_name is the one that contains the column. For example, the table DocVersion is for documents, table Generic is for custom objects, and table Container is for folders.
And where column_name is the name of the property column. The name of the index, idx_name is created as shown in the following example:
CREATE INDEX lc_lname ON DocVersion(LOWER(lname))
Extended Row Size Support changes are described as follows, when using DB2 10.5 LUW with IBM FileNet Content Platform Engine. DB2 10.5 LUW extended row size support can now be used to support Content Platform Engine tables with the total sum of column allocation sizes exceeding 32KB. This support requires the IBM FileNet CPE 5.2 FP2 release or later.
DB2 10.5 LUW now supports an extended row size. This can allow properties to be created without exceeding the record length limit for the page size (32 KB) because column allocation sizes are no longer counted against the limit during column creation. If an updated or inserted value results in the sum of the bytes consumed across all columns exceeding the physical record length limit of the page size, a descriptor (24 bytes) to an off-row location is stored in the column instead of by DB2.
Extended row size is on by default for new DB2 10.5 LUW installations. For databases upgraded to DB2 10.5 LUW and later, from earlier releases of DB2, the following command can be used to enable extended row size support:
UPDATE DATABASE CONFIGURATION FOR dbName USING EXTENDED_ROW_SZ ENABLE
Support for DB2 10.5 LUW requires the IBM FileNet CPE 5.2 FP2 release or later. When a new FileNet Document, Folder, or Custom Object property is added to a class, the Content Platform Engine (CPE) server will determine if extended row size is enabled for the database. This requires SELECT privileges on a view, which is granted by default:
SELECT ON SYSIBMADM.DBCFG
If extended row size is enabled in DB2, even with table overflow enabled on an object store, no tables will be overflowed by the CPE when a property is added to a class. All columns will be added to the original table.
If extended row size is not enabled or the view permission has been revoked, systems will behave as before - rows are then limited to 32KB (when a column is created), and tables will overflow if enabled on an object store.
For systems that have existing overflow tables and have upgraded to DB2 10.5 and have enabled extended row size support, new columns will be added to the original table, not the overflow table. Only if the CPE determines that a property can reuse an existing column that is no longer used will new properties be associated with the overflow table.

For CentOS 8.x, the support is now only via CentOS stream unless a change to a different compatible Linux Distro is preferred.
The steps for this change are as follows:
Note: Remember to back up the whole system first! Shutdown any running services as far as possible:
Shut Down Watson:
[root@ecmukdemo20 bin]# ./engine-shutdown
Is it okay to shut down Engine? [y/N] y
2022/01/09 14:06:02 Engine is shutting down
2022/01/09 14:06:02 Attempting to shut down Engine nicely
2022/01/09 14:06:04 The embedded web server is stopping
2022/01/09 14:06:06 Engine has been shutdown
[root@ecmukdemo20 bin]# pwd
/opt/ibm/WEX/Engine/bin
[root@ecmukdemo20 bin] # su - esadmin
[esadmin@ecmukdemo20 bin]$ esadmin system stopall
Etc…
FFQC5397W All of the required system services were stopped.
Start the conversion of CentOS 8.0 to CentOS Stream:
Run the dnf command to update the packages on CentOS 8
(Run as root on my system):
dnf update
Note that you get an error similar to the following output:
Error:
Problem: package docker-ce-3:20.10.12-3.el7.x86_64 requires containerd.io >= 1.4.1, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install the best update candidate for package docker-ce-18.06.3.ce-3.el7.x86_64
- package containerd.io-1.4.10-3.1.el7.x86_64 is excluded
- package containerd.io-1.4.11-3.1.el7.x86_64 is excluded
Etc…
- package containerd.io-1.4.9-3.1.el7.x86_64 is excluded
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages)
Then I tried with the following version:
dnf update --nobest
(Which completed OK on our system) Note this update needs a few additional confirmations and does update a large number of packages (2021 listed on my system, ecmukdemo20)
NOTE: If the following error is encountered attempting to use the above updates, for example using the command
yum update
CentOS-8 - AppStream 70 B/s | 38 B 00:00
Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'AppStream': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: No URLs in mirrorlist
Then use the commands as follows:
cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
sed -i 's/mirrorlist/#mirrorlist/g' /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-*
sed -i 's|#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org|baseurl=http://vault.centos.org|g' /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-*
yum update -y
The above commands :
Comment out all the mirrorlist lines for all the .repo files.
Change all occurrences of the base URL for the http://mirror.centos.org (which no longer exists on the internet) in the .repo files to the new base URL, http://vault.centos.org.
Then, reboot the Linux box using the shutdown command or the reboot command:
shutdown
(Then power up again)
Verify the release of CentOS 8 used:
more /etc/centos-release
[root@ecmukdemo20 ~]# more /etc/centos-release
CentOS Linux release 8.5.2111
Install the CentOS-Stream release file by typing the following commands
cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
sed -i 's/mirrorlist/#mirrorlist/g' /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-*
sed -i 's|#baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org|baseurl=http://vault.centos.org|g' /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-*
dnf in centos-release-stream
Gives
[root@ecmukdemo20 ~]# dnf in centos-release-stream

Installed:
centos-release-stream-8.1-1.1911.0.7.el8.x86_64
Complete!
[root@ecmukdemo20 ~]#
Remove the CentOS 8 repo and replace it with the CentOS Stream repo:
dnf swap centos-linux-repos centos-stream-repos
Figure 1.28: The CentOS stream repo is ready to be swapped in
Installed:
centos-stream-release-8.6-1.el8.noarch centos-stream-repos-8-3.el8.noarch
Removed:
centos-linux-repos-8-3.el8.noarch
Migrate CentOS 8 installation to CentOS stream. First, list repos by running:
dnf repolist
Upgrading CentOS 8 to CentOS Stream. Get the packages for CentOS Stream ABI/API. This will upgrade packages to match the new ABI/API:
dnf distro-sync --nobest
Reboot the system again. Run:
systemctl reboot
For verification, run this command:
cat /etc/centos-release
Figure 1.29: The CentOS 8.0 system is updated to CentOS Stream release 8
1.14 Use of ftp/sftp, VMware mapped folders, and ssh/scp for file copy
Installation of sftp used for Linux is described on pages 61 to 64 of the downloaded document, CaseManagerInstallationonRHEL8.0_V3.docx.
Conclusion
In this chapter, we covered the Bill of Materials for the DB2 software required for the related IBM Information Management Products to be installed, with the download site URLs, Product Codes, Descriptions, and size and name of the download gzip tar files for each Software Download. We also covered the update of a CentOS 8.0 system to CentOS Stream.
In the next chapter, we will cover the RedHat 8.0 .iso disk image installation, Windows 10 system installation and OpenShift 4 containers used for the products listed in this chapter.
