"Make some coffee. You'll read all night." Lee Child, #1 World-Wide Bestselling Author of Jack Reacher Thrillers

FBI Special Agent Kim Otto finds the perfect bait to lure Jack Reacher to the surface in this gripping new suspense thriller.

In Lee Child's twenty-third Jack Reacher novel, Past Tense, Reacher found his roots and a heap of trouble in Laconia, New Hampshire. A young Canadian couple took the spoils at the end of the war. Now, the real owner will stop at nothing to get back what belongs to him.

Reacher wasn't there to protect his only brother, Joe, who was killed in the line of duty years ago. Will he show up to protect his brother's son?

Agent Otto bets on Reacher and puts her life on the line. But she's been wrong about Reacher before.

"Expertise shines on every page."— Margaret Maron, Edgar, Anthony, Agatha and Macavity Award Winning MWA Past President and MWA Grand Master 2013

Readers Love the Hunt for Jack Reacher Series and Diane Capri:

"I 'stumbled' on this title and was attracted to it as I am a Jack Reacher fan. Loved the story and the author's writing style. Couldn't wait for more so I purchased [Raw Justice] and want more Jennifer Lane - please?! Fatal Distraction is also on my Kindle to read list!"

"I have been a Reacher fan for years and was excited when I heard of Diane Capri's take on 'Finding Reacher'. 'Don't Know Jack' is a good companion to Child's Reacher books and recaptures the flavor of the Reacher mystique. I am waiting anxiously for the next book in the series and the next and the next, and so on."

"All Child fans should give it a try!"

Read on a recommendation because there were no more Reacher stories to read. As a stand alone tale, it was well written, wildly complex, and followed the Reacher model well. It just isn’t Jack Reacher, though. If you want a mentally satisfying spy story, this book works well. If you’re looking for an extension of Reacher’s fight for the little guy and hard jistice, you will be disappointed.

What a great read! I had read the entire (to date) Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, and this was a nice surprise how it sort of ties into those books. Would love to see some more books by this author, that may even lead into the main characters actually finding Reacher!

This book is written close to the style of Lee Child. Jack Reacher, who never appears in the book, is used as a come on to attract his readers. The story is fast paced with an FBI agent who seems unable to control her emotions or her life. With a car or plane she races from scene to scene. Where would the story be without Reacher?

A bit of a Reacher exploitation story, whilst the style follows Lee Child the plot is weak and doesn't really work in my opinion.

Title: Don’t Know Jack (The Hunt for Reacher Series #1)Author: Diane CapriPages: 340Year: 2012Publisher: August BooksMy rating is 5 stars. If you have seen the two movies about Jack Reacher starring Tom Cruise, then you are at least familiar with the character or perhaps you know the character or story behind the Jack Reacher series via another author, friend or family member. Either way, I came across Diane’s books when perusing an online store website. I contacted the author and as they say the rest is history. I read her latest novel, which starts a new series titled Blood Trails and I wanted to read more to discover how the author crafts the man no one can seem to locate, Jack Reacher. In Don’t Know Jack, two FBI Special Agents are tasked with locating and building a file on Jack Reacher as he has completely disappeared after his service in the army. Both agent Otto and Gaspar will take you across the nation to find Jack or people who knew him, sometimes coming to a town right after Reacher has been there. What at first seems like a simple assignment begins to reveal to both the agents that there is more going on than they are aware of.On top of that, their assignment is blacked out so they can’t tell anyone what they are doing, have access to sources as well as the government will deny them should they call attention to themselves. Diane Capri shares with readers a great suspense filled and mysterious tale with the man who seems like a ghost, Jack Reacher. Readers will enjoy the book from start to finish and I plan on reading more from the pen of Diane. While there are a couple uses of foul language, there is no sex of any kind, just a spell-binding work of fiction that takes readers on an adventure via their imagination.Next up are two novellas in the series, so watch for the reviews!Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Interesting novel for Lee Child's Jack Reacher fans. A set of FBI agents go back to the place where Reacher stories all began in the Killing Floor... in search of Reacher for a special FBI assessment... but what takes place is both unexpected and a bit confusing. A mix of old characters, as well as new, but still trying to wrap my head around a different author using some of the same character's from Lee Child.

Marginally interesting, though only because of the basic concept of watching FBI agents try to learn more about Jack Reacher. But the overall plot was ... um ... just not terribly interesting. And the characters were bland, bland, bland. Gee, don't you suppose that in all of those hours sitting in a car together, our protagonists might, just perhaps, have talked to one another, just a little? This was also one of those stories where the characters seem able to intuit things that the reader can't. That's usually OK; after all, I expect "the pros" to know certain things more than I do. But I do expect the characters to then explain to me how they leaped to a certain conclusion, especially when the reader is likely to have drawn an entirely different conclusion. Finally, I'm not a big fan of the plot device of the characters knowing an answer to a mystery (in this case, who their supervisor is), making a big deal out of that mystery, but not telling the reader (or at least not until near the end).I'm not sure if I'll read more in this series (and absolutely would not if it didn't involve Jack Reacher).

DON'T KNOW JACK was the first book in the Hunt for Reacher series. Ms. Capri was also a new to me author, so not having read any of her other books, I was not disappointed. The storyline did keep my interest but not enough to say I couldn't put it down. The characters were okay, although I was a little frustrated at times with Kim, the alpha female as Gaspar says. Some of the plot points were a little hard to believe but again this was fiction. Overall not a bad read by no means and I wasn't disappointed. There were a few twists and turns which created a bit of mystery for me.Rating: 3Reviewed by: KellyR,My Book Addiction Reviews
