About this ebook

since you told me you wanted to be a bird is a collection of poems that grew out of the author's hope to capture the emotions, the hopes, and the fears experienced not only by a loved one diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, but also by herself as witness to the physical decline, the emotional rollercoaster, and the eventual moment of goodbye. Jennifer K Pauken

Jennifer Pauken lives in central Illinois. She has cycled many miles of rural roads surrounding her home, as well as across the USA twice to help raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research. For my mom, Elizabeth Ellen Heath Pauken, who passed on her love for language to me and never wavered in her support of whatever I became determined to do. Though we said goodbye before the first cross-country bicycle adventure, I know you were with me each and every day, keeping me safe as I pedaled along our beautiful country’s rural roads.
