    AUTHOR’S APPLICATION

As I learned to listen to God’s whisper awaking me at special times during the development of this book, I received tremendous signs of influence from the Holy Spirit, answering particular questions that had baffled me about the many religious groups and different beliefs that are being taught contrary to the inerrant original manuscripts preserved in the deep of the sea and caves of the Holy Land.

Shortly after I had prayed to receive a sign where to look for truth, it came to me. And I knew if God can use the sinner in me, imagine what wonders He can do for anyone who obeys His voice. But I wondered, Why me, God?

He answered and said, You can bless someone else. I am God Almighty. Continue to work in mysterious ways; you’re not an astute scholar, nor have gone to cities mentioned in the Bible yet, as other anointed men, but this is your assignment!

Oh, how blessed I am that I can be God’s witness. I have been chosen to write this book to validate that he is real and working in our lives today, if we diligently seek the quest of obedience to worship his light.

God’s shining torch is a library of sixty-six books written over a period of 1,500 years. Thirty-nine books of the Old Testament took about a thousand years to manifest. They were written roughly around 1400 B.C. to 400 B.C. Twenty-seven books of the New Testament were written in a shorter time period of fifty years to manifest roughly between 45 A.D. and 95 A.D. Nearly forty writers participated in developing the remarkable canon of scriptures of the Holy Bible.

The word Bible is from the Latin word biblia, which means the books. The theme, according to the Handy Bible Encyclopedia, the Bible is not a single volume, but is rather an entire library of books, including letters, histories, poems, prayer, and other kinds of writing.

The mystical chemistry of these writings was penned by numerous different authors, living in different lands, in a variety of different circumstances, at different times. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew in 250 B.C. to 150 B.C. The New Testament was written in Greek somewhere between the fourth and ninth century.

During this time period, Peter and Paul were charged by the Holy Spirit to go and evangelize throughout Judea, Samaria, and Rome, also by way of Phillip to Ethiopia and Asia as the Bible and the gospel advance to the uttermost places of the world.

Peter and Paul laid the foundation of the Roman Catholic Church. Peter, the rock of the Church of Jesus Christ and anointed the first pope, had derived from a Patriarch of Antioch where the church first assembled in the mist of the resurrected Jesus Christ.

After Paul’s conversion and time in Arabia and Damascus, Paul returned to Jerusalem where he debated the Hellenistic Jews. When the Jews attempted to kill him, the church there sent Paul back to Tarsus of Cilicia. Paul’s time in Cilicia was five to ten years. Around mid-40s A.D., Barnabas went to Tarsus to find Paul and brought him back to Antioch, the capital of the province of Syria and the third largest city in the Roman Empire.

Here the prophets and teachers in the church at Antioch set apart Barnabas and the Apostle Paul, for a ministry of work to which the Holy Spirit had called them.

Centuries have passed, so by the early 1500s, many people in Western Europe were growingly dissatisfied with the Christian Church. Many found the pope too involved with secular, worldly matters. Many church officials became poorly educated in the doctrine of the Bible, due to lack of knowledge, they suffered in decision making ultimately leading to priest and bishops having mistresses or passing down their title to their illegitimate sons.

Many church officials participated in indulgences; a religious pardon that released a sinner from penalties for a certain fee.

Until a German monk by the name of Martin Luther expressed his growing concern of church corruption, he wrote his famous 95 Theses, which called for a full reform of the Christian Church. On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther tacked his thesis to the church door at Wittenberg in Saxony, Germany. Luther invited other scholars to debate him on the matter of church policies they were violating.

It’s not a coincidence the printing press had just been developed that Luther’s 95 Theses was reprinted throughout Germany and quickly attracted many followers.

But he also attracted many enemies, and in 1520 the pope excommunicated Martin Luther. Luther responded by burning the papal decree in front of his students. In 1521, the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V put Luther on trial and declared him an outlaw.

Luther went into exile, living at Wartburg Castle. During his time there, he translated the Bible into German. Ten months later, many found his theories had been put into practice. Priests now wore regular clothing identifying themselves as ministers. Worship services were held in German rather than Latin. Many clergy had begun to marry. Martin Luther himself married a former nun in 1524.

This act of reform influenced the protest of many Christians to branch off and start their own devotions, and diverse religions began styling themselves after their founder, calling themselves Lutherans.

Martin Luther’s message was powerful and appealing for various groups, even those of little concern with spiritual beliefs, but they wanted to engage in the conservative rule of engagement to further gain wealth.

Many Western European rulers rejected the political power held by the pope; in addition, many northern merchants did not like paying heavy taxes to the Church in Rome. In 1529, several German princes came together and signed a decree publicly declaring their support for Luther and his teachings.

They became known as the protesting princes, known as protestant. In the years following Martin Luther’s radical break with the church, much welfare occurred in and around Western Europe, which became a hardship on people’s faith in God. This act brought about new beliefs but through it all, Martin Luther and the protestant faith inspired an entire generation of people to break away from the Catholic Church.

Men like John Calvin and Knox became outspoken critics of Catholicism and brought Protestantism to other parts of Western Europe. King Henry VIII, intellectually jumped on the protestant bandwagon, declaring himself head of the new Church of England.

Other groups, such as the Huguenots in France and Anabaptists in the Netherlands, further divided the faith of Christian doctrine and Christians never worshipped under one roof again.

Around seventy years later when Queen Elizabeth died in 1603, the crown passed to James.

He became the king and commissioned a new English translation called the Bishop’s Bible.

This was the official translation from the original Hebrew and Greek version prescribed for all the churches in England.

King James recruited forty-seven Hebrew and Greek scholars. He divided them into six groups to correct each other’s mistakes. Three groups worked with the Old Testament. Two groups worked with the New Testament. One group worked with the Apocrypha books

The Apocrypha books are only accepted in the Roman Catholic Church. They are historical books written after the book of Malachi in the Old Testament and before the book of Matthew in the New Testament.

They were written during a time period of four hundred years when God was silent to the world.

Mysteriously, God speaks once again introducing the gospels according to the New Testament King James translation.

However, most important is the archaeological discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls found in 1947 in Palestine by a young Bedouin boy looking for a stray goat. A few more reliable truths about the Bible are the archaeological discoveries of the site of the crucifixion of Jesus and the tomb of Jesus found at the west end of Skull Hill.

And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a Skull (Matthew 27:33) KJV.

    PREFACE

Ever since I could remember, my life was filled with many tribulations, pain, and horror. I often wondered, Why me? But I believe God knows me best and through faith and grace, I pushed and gained prosperity.

Over many years of sin and misfortunes, I grew to develop a passion for biblical history and prophecy; I wanted to know how the Bible reflects our daily lives? Then I realized my love for God is so strong, he wanted me to shine light on dark endeavors, like the life of Sir Daniel, my life consists of extraordinary situations too, to glorify God’s grace.

From poverty to prosperity, then homeless to a home, my life had become a roller coaster, but I finally discovered a powerful light—shining, calling me to the Ministry of Jesus Christ.

Throughout the years, the Lord spoke to my heart saying, Seek and you shall find. I’ve become inquisitive about God’s hand saving me from harm when I was ejected from a car as we exited a dark tunnel on Pacific Coast Highway junction to the Santa Monica 10 Freeway. This fork in the road became a reflection and snapshot of my whole life.

From that day onward, God has revealed, through the Holy Spirit, answers to me a bit at a time as I learned how to pay attention to his still voice in my moments of mediation. Swiftly, I put the answers in these writings to share my incredible life as a symbol of hope among these thorny times of devastation and devotion, that I’ve overcome devastations through my devotion to God.

    HISTORY CHECKMATE

    Manefesto

    CAUGHT UP IN A MIRACLE

It was the first Sunday of May 1980. We were supposed to be in church, but we decided to go to Santa Monica Pier. We were on our way home and had just come out of a dark tunnel near Pacific Coast Highway on the 10 Freeway.

Momma, stop! Sherry yelled as the car hit the freeway divider, swerving into the next lane while tilted on two wheels.

I can’t stop! I can’t control it! Marie frantically shouted. I can’t stop the car! Bam! I braced myself as the car hit the center divider. Before I knew it, Sherry flew out of the hatchback; when she was ejected, it forced oncoming cars to slow down (several cars were swerving to avoid a collision with us).

Michael was sitting between Sherry and me; he couldn’t move because the hand of God kept him still. But the force of the collision threw me out of the hatchback, including a boom box playing the sounds of funk on KDAY Radio Station. I flew through the sky like Superman. I felt the presence of God, his heavenly cape blanketing me like Moses and Jesus being safe from harm of the Pharaohs. The hand of God graciously placed
