Roman Briggs has built a life for himself in Siren’s Cove. He restored the Sugar Cones Ice Cream Parlor and turned it into a popular stop along the boardwalk. He has everything he needs until a certain blue-eyed woman wanders back into his life.

Seer and witch Peyton Woods isn’t sure why her latest visions feature a man and boy she’s never met. Determined to find out, she casts a spell that leads her to a small beach town in Maine and, to her utter surprise, the man who broke her heart eight years earlier.

Salted Caramel Bliss with a Wedding Kiss - Cherie Colyer

We’re meeting up with Henry and some friends, Roman said. We always watch the fireworks together during the summer festival. You’re welcome to join us.

Since I was there to see Henry and Travis, I couldn’t say no.

I expected to stop at a picnic table, but Roman strolled past them on his way to the docks.

We’re going on a boat? I asked. On land, if the metaphorical shield protecting my heart from breaking cracked, I could leave. But on a boat, I’d be trapped.

Just a mile out. We can see the fireworks better. Come on. He jerked his head to the side. When I still hesitated, he added, I don’t bite.

I remembered him nibbling all the right places when we dated.

    Praise for Cherie Colyer

Merry Little Wishing Spritz: An exceptional cast with Cassie and Jack as the lead, but the secondary characters are equally fun, which includes an adorable cat…This book is perfect for an afternoon read and has a spritz of magic and a sweet romantic ending.

    Chapter 1

Nana grew smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror as I drove away from the senior center. She waved goodbye, her free hand gripping her skirt to keep Illinois’s humid summer breeze from blowing it above her knees.

Follow your heart, dear, she had said. It was what she always said when one of my premonitions yanked me away from my everyday life. But was I really letting a vision lead me away from home and my clients to check on the well-being of a stranger?

The violet spark from my spell took a left out of Nana’s neighborhood. I drove into the turn lane and stopped at the red light. The spark hovered over the road, waiting to guide me on. There had to be a reason I had visions of the dark-skinned boy and the gray-haired man with the silver octopus ring. Or maybe the creature on the ring was a kraken? Wasn’t that what sailors called the enormous sea creature from the pirate movies?

I shook my head to get my thoughts back on track. There was a reason the boy and the man kept appearing in my head. They were important somehow, and I wanted to know why.

I flicked on my turn signal and once the arrow appeared, continued to follow the spark. For an extra confidence boost, I called my best friend and filled her in about my road trip.

You’re what? Cassie’s voice poured out of my car speakers.

I had hoped for a little support.

She grunted and sputtered, getting no words out.

You once cast a new-beginning spell, I said. And things turned out great for you.

Yeah, but I wasn’t following a vision. Really, Peyton, a thirty-one-year-old woman shouldn’t be traveling by herself to unknown destinations in search of a crotchety old pirate.

Just because the man wears gaudy jewelry doesn’t make him a pirate.

Peyton, you said these visions give you a weird vibe.

Maybe ‘weird’ wasn’t the right word. It’s more of a strange feeling. Like I’m supposed to recognize this man or the boy. I know it sounds crazy. I’ve already had this argument with myself. But I feel drawn to them.

That’s the haunting melody you keep hearing in your head.

    Maybe. But I’m still going.

Cassie sighed. Then wait a day. I’ll fly out this afternoon, and we’ll go together.

No can do. I got a glimpse at a newspaper in one of my visions. Something is going to happen tomorrow, and I want to be there when it does.

The details were a bit hazy. My last premonition had been a choppy stream of random people, lights, explosions, and either cheers or screams. I had snapped out of the visions before I could figure out which. Besides, I’m not alone. I have Jinx.

    Who’s Jinx?

My new familiar. I rubbed the head of the scruffy black and white puppy standing on my lap. She showed up on my doorstep last week. I think she’s part Siberian husky and part Border collie. She’s excited about our trip.

Your new familiar is a dog?

Not all witches are destined to have cats.

I guess. There was a pause. I’m still not convinced you should be taking this trip. You’re traveling heaven knows where with a puppy. Hold on a minute. The bell of the cash register chimed at the bookstore Cassie managed. She thanked someone for shopping at Lakeside Inn and Books. Sorry about the interruption. Now, what was I saying? Oh, yes, your new familiar. At least tell me she’s ferocious and will bite the hand of anyone evil.

I glanced into Jinx’s blue eyes. She was too cute and cuddly to nip at anyone, but I told Cassie what she wanted to hear. Of course. She’s a witch’s companion, isn’t she?

I can’t talk you out of this trip, can I?

    Afraid not.

Fine. How do you know where you’re headed?

I tweaked the new-beginning spell to follow my vision.

The violet spark veered right. I flipped on my turn signal. The spark and I merged on the highway.

Call me when you hit this beach town you’re spell-bent on going to so I know you arrived in one piece.

    I will.

And if you find yourself in trouble…

I’ll call. Now stop worrying. It’s not as if I can’t protect myself. I was a witch, after all.

    Chapter 2

The beach town ended up being Siren’s Cove, Maine, population 963, approximately a thousand miles from home. Jinx and I had crashed at a hotel in New York after nine hours on the
