Introduction
I have been a Property Manager since 1999 and due to great company directors, I have been exposed to many of the issues that arise and have been trusted in my position to learn, grow and excel.
Property Management is a role that can be rewarding but also can take its toll if we do not try to find ways to fine tune the day to day tasks in managing a portfolio.
I have written this book to assist Property Managers that are new to the industry and have covered the main duties that would be expected of them.
I have found these practices to help me run my day and not allow others to contribute to the day’s structure, this helps with your time management and completion rate with great efficiency.
Maintaining your education and monitoring your own development within this industry is essential. I have worked for people that value their Property Managers and provided education as required. There are a lot of Real Estates that do not recognize the value of keeping staff up to date with the current legislations, these Real Estates I do not work for.
It’s very important that you remain up to date with the new legislations to protect yourself, the agency and other stakeholders.
I hope this guide assists you with the basic fundamentals to kick start your career as a Property Manager. I also hope that it helps you leave work at the office door, relax and get a good night sleep.
That’s what I found the hardest to do when I started.
What to expect when managing a rental property
