Both of my cousins and I are only looking to explore this new realm since we have never been away from our own before. We are Elite Guards for Rian, King of the Fae and planned to go straight home until we find out that a day in Faery equates to three weeks here.

 

A bit of R&R while we try the local cuisine (eyebrow waggle). That is until we come across the last thing we expected to find... our Mate.

Chapter 1

Devin

W hile we are here, let us go to that café Grace mentioned. I want to try a cup-of- chino. says Corbin.

We have escorted our cousin’s Mate and Bond Mates home at the request of our King, Rian who is the brother to our cousin. Time runs differently in this realm and as such, we are able to spend a few weeks here before we are needed to return home. While we have been here the PA to the Alpha has introduced us to all kinds of foods and beverages, one being this cup-of-chino that Corbin has taken a liking to.

What the fuck is a chino? I ask perplexed.

A cup-of-chino. He corrects me with a laugh, saying it slowly as though I misunderstood what he had said. Then continues on with, It is an aromatic beverage made from roasted crushed beans, then filtered with water, topped off with milk.

I was actually there as well when Raul told us about that particular beverage. I growl

out.

We have just left the farm that is Grace’s home and quickly becoming an anti-Darks

Command Base. We wander down the road taking in our surroundings as we walk to the town that Grace had told us about. We understand it is a large village that we can try hot and cold beverages, and something called a meat pie with sauce.

While we are there, do you want to try the local cuisine? Killian asks Corbin with a wink and an eyebrow wiggle.

Each or share? Asks Corbin, being the one looking for clarification. Corbin has always been like this, inquisitive and challenging even as a child.

Depends on who we meet and how many there are. There banter is comical since I have heard it all before.

The three of us have never been blessed with a Mate. We are soldiers, protectors of the Crown and the realm we live in. Our life is dangerous at times when we have had to put ourselves in the front line of wars or dealt with assassins that come after our, Rian, King of the Fae.

We have taken and given pleasure to the exquisite fruits in our own realm and look forward to the lovelies of this realm, especially if they look anything like Regin's Mate.

Regin, our cousin, has given us what is called a large amount of currency used to purchase goods of this realm. He also gave us a communication device he called a mobile phone, explaining how to use it and preprogramed his and Raul’s numbers to contact should we need them for anything.

This world is so much more complicated than our own in some ways and very much the same in others.

It will be an adventure none of us are willing to miss. Regin explained that thanks to the time difference, we can spend three weeks here and only miss a day at our home. Rian will be well looked after for a day or two without us. That gives us plenty of time to explore this new world and enjoy the beauty, peace and people that cross our path.

Humans themselves cannot harm us, but we do need to be aware of the Dark Shadows that seem to be drawn to this area since the Great Prophecy. The supernatural community has already named the events brought on by the appearance of the third Lustrum, one being the Great Prophecy and the other the Great Purge when whole lines of Vampires were destroyed for the particularly poor, but evil choices they made.

The Goddess blessed our cousin with a Mate and Bond Mates, so by her grace we hope to be worthy of such a blessing as well. We will build homes near each other; our children will grow up together and our Mates will be great friends.
