About this ebook

Tales are meant to be told.

Some get forgotten. Some change with each telling. Some adapt from history to fairytales.
It can't be proven if Quanst lived or not, but if he did, these are tales spoken about him. And truth be told, some stories he'd like forgotten.
Did anyone recall the time he'd ended up flat on his back during the swordfight?
Or when he was homeless and he became a thief?
Or the job he had to take?
Tales like this could happen to anyone. But he wasn't anyone. He was Quanst the Mouse. Very few ever knew he was there.
Mentioned as forgotten history in the Sacred Knight series, Quanst's tales beg to be told. Join Dawn Blair as she begins to uncover the stories of the boy who wanted to be a warrior but became a better-known thief instead.

Dawn Blair

Come take an adventure with your multi-dimensional, time-traveling tour guide, Dawn Blair. Telling stories of noble hearts and fantastic places, Dawn enjoys creating stories full of action, fantasy, quests, and maybe a touch of technology.  For as long as she can remember, she's been telling stories, starting with tales of cats and dogs. No one ever dared to ask her to "imagine" something because it would send her creativity spinning. One fateful day, her grandmother, certainly tired of listening to the endless prater, sat Dawn down at a typewriter and told her to write the story out.  Growing up on a ranch in rural Nevada, she had plenty of time and space to let her imagination roam free. When she wasn't out playing or working in the alfalfa fields or swimming at the pool, she was at home typing away at her novels.  Dawn moved to Idaho and, after a second fateful day where an instructor taught her to see as an artist, her life expanded to include other creative endeavors: painting, illustrating, animating, and photography in addition to writing. They all became mediums for the way she could share stories. Soon, she had won numerous awards for writing, painting, and photography, as well as gaining readers and collectors worldwide. All while raising her two fantastic boys as a single mom.  Dawn decided to start recording audiobooks. Knowing nothing about the process, she began learning and transformed a simple home setup into a home studio, a sequence marked by a third fateful day in her life when she decided to quit dabbling and get serious. Dawn aims for improving her audio with each narrative tale she completes. Still in Idaho, Dawn spends every moment she can exploring strange worlds, seeking out brave lives and magical civilizations. She wants to touch your life with magic, open your mind, and make sure you will never be the same again. Let her show you the sights. Let's be on our way, shall we? About the Author

    TALE #1

No one told this tale, but truth lay in every word.

Quanst lay on his back, flat on his back, staring up at the leafy branches of the elm trees. The leaves were just starting to turn gold. Warm sunlight filtered through. He felt it dappling along various spots of his body, only cold where the thin padding strapped to his chest protected him.

Echoes of sounds drifted to him: children laughing, parents calling out, an occasional whoop.

He breathed in deeply of the clean air surrounding him. A part of him wanted to roll over on the grass and fall asleep.

He was going to be the greatest warrior. Someday.

    Not today.

Today was for rest, for play. Everyone had gathered at Cliffside Park. The entire city of Gohaldinest was here. Quanst heard them shouting at the contestants for the Springsday Tournament of Champions.

Light sparkled through the branches. The trees too were yelling, shaking their leaves.

Heavy, thudding boots danced nearer to Quanst’s head. He knew he should draw in his arms and legs rather than letting someone trip over his spread-eagle body, but only one knee obeyed his command to bend.

Clack… clack, clack… whack. The staccato beats filtered through Quanst’s mind as if they were coming into focus. Weapons clashing against each other, he knew. Battling opponents coming closer, he felt.

    He’d become a great warrior.

He couldn’t do that prone and splayed on the grass as he was.

Quanst, he heard his mother call.

A salty taste was filling his mouth. He needed to move. People were coming.

    Clack, clack, clack… clack.

He felt dizzy. His stomach was beginning to hurt. He shouldn’t have eaten both of those sweet rolls. His mother had told him not too. But he’d wanted to see if there was money inside. Sometimes there was.

Or that’s what he’d been told.

    Clack.

He caught sight of legs moving into view.
