About this ebook

“Livin La Vida Loca” Ricky Martin.
Based in Queensland, Australia. My sixth book and third nonfiction book, after initially writing two fiction novels.
I wrote “Wine, Travel & Romance” based on my personal experiences with some of the gorgeous, sensuous, romantic ladies I met whilst working internationally. This happened over a period of twelve years, post-divorce. Previously I had been married for 22 years until my amicable divorce in 2009. My intent was not to meet anyone. I certainly did not have preconceived ideas of meeting ladies throughout my travels. I wanted to travel and work internationally.
I intentionally left out dates so as not to timeline any of these events. The events are not in chronological order but do take place within the aforementioned period.
Some of the places I travelled to: Dubai, USA, Canada, Turkey, China, Mongolia, South Korea, Germany, Hong Kong, Fiji, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, East Timor, Iraq, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand along with many others.
I believe my inspiration for writing this book was when I was watching a YouTube vlog. It was a husband and wife discussing how they meet, first date, first kiss, marriage etc. The wife whose name was Katie reminded me a lot of a former lover of mine. The mannerisms were glaringly similar. Something triggered within me to sit down at the computer and start writing. So here is my story. I do not cover all of my acquaintances, but I have outlined a number of them in this book.
I have used pseudonyms so as not to embarrass anyone or reveal there true identities. I have purposely left out certain details which are private and shall remain etched in wonderful memories. I have added some anecdotal lines from past situations. At the end of each chapter, I insert a famous quote on love which I`ll add in italics.
I dedicate this book to all those wonderful ladies to whom I was so fortunate to meet and share a part of my life with. They were full of fun, joy, and kindness. They were gentle and always well meaning. We all remain dear friends.
From dining out, shopping, travelling, and those memorable romantic moments where no words were needed. Just a gaze and a smile spoke a thousand words.
Love is such a strange feeling to have. How does it really work? Love at first sight. Love after a week of knowing each other, love forever. It’s a blessing that we can experience such a wonderful gift that manifests itself in so many ways.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this book as much as I did writing it. To all those people that are falling in love around the world I tip my hat to you and wish you God speed.

Author BioBorn and raised in New Zealand. I am currently living in Australia. I have always had a passion for travel and new experiences and have travelled to many countries around the world. Little did I know I would end up in war torn East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan. Wouldn`t trade the experience for anything. Met some very interesting people. Some very colorful characters. I believe it not only gives you an insight to what is truly happening in these countries but also an appreciation of the benefits we sometimes take for-granted in life.My interest in writing my first two books “Fatal Decision” and “Hostile Intent” was born out of my fascination in global politics especially the Worlds Super Powers. Following military movements, and political cat and mouse between the UN Security Council members was intriguing and sometimes amusing.I have travelled fairly extensively to some amazing places around the world and some not so amazing. But the experience is always worth the effort. Some places I`ve traveled: USA, Canada, Mongolia, Japan, Germany, Turkey, Dubai, Kuwait, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Afghanistan, Iraq, Australia, Fiji, Indonesia, and many more..Have a great passion for sport, especially Bodybuilding. Both participating and viewing. Living in a tropical paradise like Australia it’s easy to be persuaded to venture outdoors and hit the beach.I truly hope you will enjoy my first two books as much as I did writing them. The new sequel called “Hostile Intent” has just been released through my Publisher and is now available through all major book outlets..2019I have just released my first book of poetry. It's from the heart so I hope you will enjoy. It's my 3rd book.2019Just released my 4th book which is about my travels and experience. It's a short story. I will write a sequel to this at some stage as I have many experiences overseas.2020Have released my 5th book entitled, "The Mind Set". If the mind is strong the body will follow.I would like to dedicate this book to my three children, Darcian, Dayna and Calin.

    Chapter One-Rachel (USA)

My first day on the job. I`m relaxed but still a little weary of everyone in the office. New job and new country. Overland, Kansas to be exact. I have a week of orientation ahead of me as I observe my surroundings. Meet and greet various people and settle in at my desk provided to me with a flat screen desktop computer. The office is open plan and I start to review various contracts before I`m asked to join a conference call with my upline who is based in the Middle East. Ninety minutes later I return to my desk with a pad full of notes. I say to myself I wonder where I can buy a coffee and some food as my hunger pangs dominate my thoughts.

I head off down the corridor to see a new friend I met in the apartments we both are staying in across the road. His name is James. A small in stature of a guy, around the same age as me. Strong British accent and a quick temper to compliment his large black beard and tenacious nature. He`s from Leigh, outside of Manchester. He also has a humorous side to him as well. We chit chat for a while before we both agree to go buy some lunch. I return to my office desk still holding a large latte coffee with a shot of caramel in it. A beautiful your lady is waiting for me. We introduce and she tells me she will be training me on the company software system used for contracts.

I am instantly drawn to her. She has long black silky hair. Dark brown large soulful eyes. Soft, smooth pale complexion. A demeanor of confidence, grace and style. I could instantly smell her perfume as she leaned close to me, and my heart skipped a beat. She explained to me the approach the company takes to contractual governance. I didn`t hear a word she said. I think my pupils were dilated and I`m sure she noticed it. She told me she will be back again in the afternoon and slowing walked off with the walking style that oozed elegance and grace. I noticed she wasn`t wearing heels but wore bare feet. I`d never seen that before in an office setting. That aroused my curiosity to new heights. I couldn`t wait to see her again.

I will use a pseudonym for privacy reasons and call her Rachel. I heard her voice later that afternoon on the other side of the office and I stood up to see if that was her. It sure was and she was heading my way. I composed myself and sat patiently. There she was.

Hello Rachel, so good to see you again.

    Likewise, Alan.

With those two words I was sure she liked me. I asked if I could ask her a question. She said, Sure. I asked, Why are you wearing bare feet? She laughed. I aways kick my shoes off and wear bare feet on the carpeted office floors. It feels so much more comfortable. OMG, what an exciting woman, I said to myself. She had a great smile with those white, perfect American teeth.

When Rachel looked at you it felt like she was looking into your soul. She listened intently to every word I said, and responded in a professional and precise manner, but soft and assuring. I felt very comfortable and happy to be around her.

The company used an online messaging software called communicator which later become a very handy tool to use.

Later that evening I was having dinner and a few drinks with James, and I told him about this amazing woman in my office. James was all ears. I guess I rambled on about her most of the night as James was looking at me and saying, She must be an amazing woman, Alan. I want to meet her.

I didn`t see her all the next day and I was feeling a little empty inside. One of my colleagues said she worked in building 4. The company consisted of four main buildings. It was a huge place. Almost as big a large university campus. The share size of place which had different wings running off each building. Engineering office, Legal office, Executive office, Government projects office, Hydro project office, etc. Far too many to name.

Later that night James and I celebrated our first week on the job and a few bottles of wine were passed around. We were having a great time talking about the prospects of the up-and-coming project and our private lives etc. I went over to check my computer sitting on the kitchen Island. My communicator was on, and I noticed Rachel was still working. Next minute she sent a message to me. What are you doing, still working? I replied, No I`m not working. Sitting here with my friend James having some wine. What about you, what are you doing? She responded, I`m at work still working. What! 9:00pm on a Friday night? She said, Yes. I said, drop your work and come over to my place across the road and have a glass of wine with James and I. She replied, I`d love to. I gave her my apartment number then swiveled around to talk to James.

James, Rachel is coming over to have a glass of wine with us.

    James replied, When?"

    I said right now.

I never seen someone leave so quickly. James said.

I`ll leave you and Rachel alone.

He was gone. I patiently waited but my heart was pounding a little, and I was nervous. I couldn`t believe Rachel was coming over.

A quiet Knock, knock at the door. I opened it and there was Rachel. I asked her in. She sounded a little bit nervous. I know I was. She sat down on the sofa, as I poured her a red wine, Cabernet Sovereign.

Where`s your friend James she asked.

I told her that once he found out you were coming over, he took off back to his apartment. We both smiled. We both discussed work and a little bit about our private lives but not to much. I was a bit nervous getting to close to her, as she was a work colleague
