About this ebook
Earlier, the size of the computers was as big as the size of a large room. They used up power equal to several thousand modern personal desktop computers (PCs). In that period, use of computers was limited to military and scientific applications.
Modern computers are million times more capable than the earlier machines. They occupy a very small space and are even small enough to fit into mobile devices.
Today, a computer has become a tool that provides the information we want and is commonly being used in various areas of our lives for e.g., in banks, education sector, entertainment, healthcare, schools, homes, sports, advertising, science and engineering, railways, airports, cinema halls, government offices etc.
Learn more on how all this was possible by learning / reading this book. This book consists of explanation on topics like Development, History, Inventions, Generations, Hardware, Software, Memory, Different Devices. This book will help those who want all this information under one book. Above all this there are activity exercises at the end of every lesson. This will help students to revise.

Major part of my career has been in the field of Education and Administration. I have a good command over my subject (computer science) and effective communication in English. I have written books in my subject and have represented Science Olympiad Foundation. I have been very adaptable to any kind of new environment and technologies. I have written a few computer science books for my students based on their syllabus. With lots of health issues cropping up with time, I recreated myself with the help of Yoga and Meditation. Which gave me a direction towards a happy mind and body. Thus, decided to share my experience in penning down the Good Health Technique with all.I am ever grateful to Guruji, Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji and to Swami Satyananda Saraswatiji for guidance towards ultimate physical and mental good health.Lately I have picked up a new hobby - the art of crocheting. While making some crochet related products, I have written a few amigurumi patterns. Sharing my new skill through this platform.

Development of Computers
A computer accepts information, processes it, shows output and stores data based on the instructions given to it. We also know that a computer is an electronic machine which can be used to program and do arithmetic or logical operations.

History of Computers
Computer’s history goes back more than 2500 years to the Abacus: a simple calculator made from beads and wires. The difference between an ancient abacus and a modern computer seems huge, but the method of the process, is exactly the same.
The history of computers began long before the modern computers developed in the mid-20th century.
Abacus
Thousands of years ago man used pebbles to count. But soon felt the need to perform mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
To do such calculations with speed and accuracy, the first calculating device known as Abacus was invented in China. An Abacus consists of a row of wires fixed on a wooden frame. The wires have multi-colored beads looped on them.
The frame is divided into two parts: the upper part called heaven and the lower part called earth. Each rod in heaven has 2 beads and each rod in Earth has 5 beads.
Simple calculations were done very quickly by sliding the beads up and down on the wires.
Abacus was used for basic arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Mechanical Computers
A mechanical computer is built from mechanical parts such as levers and gears. Adding Machines and Mechanical Counters are two such examples. They use the turning
