About this ebook

Raise your hand if you've ever hidden in your car. Just for a moment, just long enough to catch your breath. You're not alone! Moms everywhere are sitting on park benches and bleachers, in minivans and bus stops, at the baseball field, the dance studio, or in line at the grocery store. And we are exhausted.

Moms don't need more information, instructions, expectations, or responsibilities. Instead, you need something to put your mind and heart at ease. You need a reminder that everything you're anxious about is in God's hands. And you need it in small doses you can fit into your schedule--even if that means a few stolen minutes in the car!

Prayers from the Parking Lot meets you where you are--overscheduled and overwhelmed. Perfect for reading while you're on the go, these to-the-point devotions and prayers are topically arranged so you can go straight to the issue you're facing right now. If you're looking for understanding and encouragement as you navigate your busy days, this little book will yield big results.

    Introduction

    Hey there, mama.

How are you? If you’re anything like me, you’re busy, probably to the point of feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. You’re worried, possibly even anxious about those kids of yours. You’re certainly not looking for another thing to put on your to-do list (or to feel guilty about never crossing off that list). Maybe you’re even hiding from the kids and the list right this minute, desperate for even a moment to yourself while you wait on piano lessons or speech therapy or karate class to finish.

You are not alone. Well, you’re alone in your car (or your hiding place of choice), but you’re not alone in the exhaustion or the overwhelm. I hear you, and I get you.

All of this—everything that holds us moms in the driver’s seat for just one more minute before hauling the groceries inside, combined with the eleventy billion things the world throws at us every single day—is why I’m more grateful than ever for the gift of prayer. I’m grateful for a God who welcomes us with open arms every time and any time we turn to Him. But more than that, I’m grateful He wants the real version of us, not some cleaned-up, got-it-together, fancy-talking version we think we need to be.

No, ma’am. He wants us just as we are, in whatever state (or parking lot) we’re in right now. He’s ready to listen when we’re worried, when we’re scared, when we’re tired, when we’re bursting with pride. He wants to pull us close whether we’re dressed to the nines or we’re wearing the same ponytail and leggings for the third day in a row.
