    THE NURSE MANAGER

    A. Who Is a Nurse Manager?

    Nurse Managers are nurses responsible for overseeing nursing staff in a hospital or clinical environment.

    B. Job Description of Nurse Manager

    Nurse Managers work at care facilities, clinics, or hospitals to develop long-term plans for professional development on their team and oversee patient care. The role of nurse managers is to preserve and organize nursing standards and implement them on their team to ensure that all staff implement the best methods when tracking the patient treatment and good methods of interacting with patients.

    The Nurse Manager's tasks to the team supervise the number of patients and delegate tasks to team members so they can efficiently process the flow of patients through the intake, care, and discharge. They seek out training and growth opportunities, giving consistent feedback to their team.

    Nurse Managers have a lot of responsibilities to follow, including supervising the schedule, budgeting resources for the department, fund tracking, and dealing with other issues. Nurse Managers also help foster care for patients; they enhance working conditions and assist their employees in getting the respect they deserve.

    The Nurse Managers also perform direct patient care, administrative tasks, and executive duties. They allocate tasks to their nursing team, spend time evaluating their behavior and analyze their patient outcomes to identify accomplishments and areas for improvement. Nursing managers also address infection control, hygiene, and prescribing best practices. Nurse Managers spend time coaching Nurses individually and assigning goals for their career advancement. They promote communication between their team and other staff, such as Doctors, Administrators, and custodial staff. They also analyze financial data, compare the budget to expenses, and plan new initiatives.

    The rooms of Nurse Managers cannot be overemphasized, as they have many responsibilities and needs to acknowledge, including those from the nurses they supervise and upper management.

    The following are more of the job descriptions of a Nurse Manager:

    Organizing the nursing roster and making sure the facility is always fully staffed

    Dealing with and resolving disagreements on the hospital floor

    Overseeing and reporting the department's allowance

    Coordinating between upper administration and the nursing department

    Managing and sustaining medical health histories

    Supervising everyday unit operations

    Nurse Managers have many duties and responsibilities based on their health care setting as part of their job description. The following are some of the major duties and responsibilities of a Nurse Manager;

    Create goals and objectives for their department and make sure the staff addresses them

    Communicate with staff and department directors

    Organize and protect records of the particular facility

    Recruit and instruct nurses and other health professionals

    Develop work schedules for nurses

    Ensure the facility they work in is obliging with current laws

    Enhance the quality and efficiency of the level of care provided to patients

    Unravel any dilemmas patients might have at the facility

    C. Skills Needed
