Author

Wayne C. Hannis

Wayne is a writer of Fantasy and Alternative History. He lives in the fantastic realm of the sunny Shuswap Lake in British Columbia, Canada and has called it home since he was a child. While growing up he played along creeks and in ravines, climbed ancient spruce trees and swam in clear fresh-water lakes. So it's no wonder his life is steeped with imaginative magic, and the world he's created has a lore as old as the mountains. Growing up, Wayne played Dungeons and Dragons, while reading authors like David Eddings, Terry Brooks and Piers Anthony, who instilled a love for fantasy in him at a young age. For awhile now Wayne has realized there's something wrong with our world, and has struggled to understand it. Wayne always had a passion for history and has come to think that the history we all have been taught is a lie (as well as most things we are taught) and a our real past has been hidden. Join Wayne as he ventures down those proverbial Rabbit Wholes in search of a lost kingdom.

    True Love Lost Forever

    A Dark Tale of Fantasy

On a long and lonely night

On a long and lonely night,

you will hear her mournful wails.

    In the darkness,

she sings her song of death.

    She died long ago.

    No one now remembers how.

    She laments over her loss,

    and the suffering she endured.

The wind conveys her doleful dirge,

as you hear it in your soul.

She is calling you to your destruction.

    You will feel her grief,

and in empathy you will listen to her summons.

You cannot deny a dead one's cry.

    Chapter One

They met on a Blood Moon

Logan remembered meeting Aideen when they were both six years old. His earliest memory was of them running and playing in the dry fields at the end of summer. Thebel- the bright star shined brilliantly in a clear, autumn blue sky that day. Logan and Aideen were oblivious as to the reason their parents had come together on that special celebration in the year I534. It didn't matter to them as they laughed and played hide and go seek through the trees. They didn't care that their parents came together to make a covenant that night.

On the autumn equinox of that year the two moons, Cha'dash- the older sister who shines light in the dark places of the world, and Ka'shaph- the younger sister who weaves magic into creation, were to rise as a blood moon, as they do every six years. Cha'dash and Ka'shaph eclipsed to create a night shrouded in crimson luminosity, removing the hyaloid veil between the light and the dark. Some called it a blessing, while others condemned it as an evil omen, and they developed into a deep crimson the year Logan and Aideen were born.

Kelvyn Shekowl, and Teaghue Apollumi grew up like brothers in the insignificant town of Natash, it had been their family home for generations. Eventually, as the two grew older, they left the little farming community in search of work. Neither wanted to be farmers. Kelvyn moved to the city of Sarivan, and Teaghue went to Dayden Falls, but they remained in close correspondence. In time they were both married, Kelvyn to Erina and Teaghue to Nara, together on the same day in their hometown of Natash on I526. In the spring of I528 Erina gave birth to Logan, and four months later in the summer Nara gave birth to Aideen, the autumn of that year was the Blood Moon Equinox.

Life was splendid as both couples prospered, although Teaghue and Nara almost had another child, but she lost it during pregnancy. Until the winter of I530, the cold started early that year with deep snow, by the solstice an epidemic burned through the region. It left many adults dead as a virus quickly spread through the cities. That winter became known as The Winter of Death, where thousands had died. It left those who survived with large scars covering their bodies, and the women became infertile, and the men sterile.

The Shekowl's and Apollumi's lived through the plague, but were terribly scarred and unable to have children. It was after the catastrophe when Nara first thought about a covenant. They wanted the absolute best for their son and daughter. Corresponding through the next few years, the idea grew.

In the year I534, when Logan and Aideen turned six, the Shekowl's and Apollumi's planned their first meeting in their hometown of Natash for the first time since before The Winter of Death. On the Equinox of the Blood Moon, they came together under that special night to establish an agreement between them they hoped would give Logan
