As a young teenage girl, the author had the ambition to have her own business but decided to drop out of university and get married at the age 18. Her ambitions went on hold for 10 years whilst she fulfilled her role of a wife and mother of two young children.
Her life turned round when she took on her first mainstream job at the age of 26 and has never looked back breaking many barriers.
A friend and work colleague had inspired the author to write a blog for a LinkedIn post that proved to be really popular. The inspiration for this book came from an encounter with a Cruise Director who as a motivational speaker shared his book at a seminar.
Having read the book with attending the seminar, well... that was it, she had her lightbulb moment and inspiration to do this for herself.
When you read her story, you will understand why she is proud of her journey – she would never have ever thought for one minute that she would be a Senior Manager in the construction industry, surrounded by talented engineers.
Some of us make different life choices and may have decided not to go down the traditional route to a professional qualification or career path.
You might feel like the most junior role in your organisation but if you have ambition and know you are capable, the life experiences will guide you, inspire you to believe in yourself and make the change happen.
When in doubt, go to a life experience point. It’s not a onetime read as each chapter guides you to experience quotes when you need some motivation.
No matter what age or background, if this book inspires just one person to take a different direction or give them courage to go for something they have been putting off and overcome any obstacles or barriers, that is a great accomplishment for the author.

INTRODUCTION

Its 4 th February 2022 and my dream cruise with friends, postponed twice due to the Covid 19 pandemic is now finally going ahead. I did not for one minute think this holiday would be my lightbulb moment to share my life experience, but I guess you never know when inspiration is going to strike.

I am very lucky to have had opportunities to explore many destinations around the world and once our friends introduced us to Celebrity cruises, well, we really got the bug. There’s something about the variety and choice of activities on the ship, balanced with the chance to just relax and have a pampering day. Exceptional restaurants with the best service from the friendliest crew who can’t do enough for you add to the experience. (Oh! I had to fit in a treadmill session on the sea days as my clothes would just not fit
