      I liked this book. It was the first one I've read by Sarah Varland and only the second Love Inspired Suspense book I've tried out. I actually really love romantic suspense and Christian fiction, so this line of books is one I'm really excited to explore more of.

      Perilous Homecoming fell a little short for me though. I'll start with the good. I really enjoyed the beautiful coastal setting and the development of the relationship between the two main characters.

      What I didn't like was that the characters seemed undeveloped. There were not many interesting side characters and we don't know much about the main characters except that there was a high school rivalry and their current professions. We know nothing about their previous love lives, friendships, very little about their families or hobbies. It felt very two-dimensional.

      That said, it was a quick and enjoyable read and I'll probably try more of Sarah's books in the future.
