    Introduction

What does peace of mind mean to you? Perhaps this phrase conjures a vision of meditating on a rock, succeeding at your career, or living side-by-side with your loved ones. Peace is something that we all strive for. Many feel the human experience is a quest to avoid suffering and maintain a constant state of peace. Unfortunately, in today’s modern society, we experience a variety of stressors and hardships that can throw our balance of peace totally out of whack. This creates constant yearning for a tranquil life, which often results in even more mounting stress.

Imagine an Earth that has achieved total world peace. What would this be like? How would people treat one another? How would you treat yourself? With the current way that our world is, this may be difficult to imagine. World peace is seemingly unattainable in our society. With so many opposing views, on everything from religion to politics, unrest is often the standard state of affairs. The media constantly bombards us with stories of war, famine, and crime. It’s no wonder that we feel as if our fight-or-flight response is always triggered. It’s almost as if bad news and negative stories are unavoidable. With the rise of social media and the internet, this is heightened even further. Negative news is just the tap of a finger
