Castle Gothic: Volume One: Edgar H. Price and Chance Castle Verses
()
About this ebook
Meet a house that has one thing on its mind: your grim fate. Or, in this first volume, Edgar H. Price's fate, a college professor and collector smitten by the promise of this sprawling mansion. Edgar comes to Castle Gothic with hopes of scouting antiquarian curios for his private collection. And he comes, perhaps, for a little well-deserved R and R, too. All the while, he has dreamy thoughts of the lovely Flavia Demarco on his mind, who he hopes may soon be paying him a very intimate call. But the castle itself has other plans. Included are verses of other castle visitors in Part Two, including "The Well to you Know Where."

HELL-O
I.
Welcome, drear reader, to Castle Gothic,
a dreadful place where every day, every night, every moment is of the chthonic.
Enter through the spiky gates,
to the courtyard of an eldritch estate
where many phantasmal things await
in many forms and uncanny ways,
particularly your grim fate.
For inside, the floorboards squeak and squeak,
and the walls your name doth speak and speak.
'Tis a home where the dark arts rule,
and the halls are roamed by awfully repulsive ghouls.
Lots of strange people, creatures, and things here you'll find,
often, perhaps, merely in the ravages of your mind.
For paranoia, delusions, and illusions abound,
specially the baying of the devil's hound.
Ahh-wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
O, that most dreadful sound.
