    INTRODUCTION

The metaverse is a three-dimensional, permanent, online universe that connects a range of virtual worlds. It's like a future version of the internet. Thanks to the metaverse, users will be able to cooperate, meet, play games, and interact in these 3D environments.

Although the metaverse does not yet exist, metaverse-like elements may be found on a variety of platforms. Presently, video games provide the most realistic metaverse experience. Developers have stretched the bounds of a game by staging in-game events and creating virtual economies.

Cryptocurrencies can be a great match for a metaverse, even if they aren't required. They make it possible to build a digital economy based on various utility tokens and virtual valuables (NFTs). Adopting crypto wallets like MetaMask and Trust Wallet would also assist the metaverse. Furthermore, blockchain technology may create transparent and reliable governance structures.

Existing blockchain-based, metaverse-like apps offer people liveable earnings. Many individuals use Axie Infinity to augment their income as a play-to-earn game. Decentraland and SecondLive are the two most successful examples of merging the blockchain with virtual reality applications.

Big tech giants are trying to pave the route for the future. The decentralized nature of the blockchain sector, on the other hand, allows smaller players to participate in the metaverse's development.

The financial, physical, and virtual worlds are all becoming more intertwined. At the touch of a button, the technologies we use to control our lives allow us access to practically everything we desire. This has also affected the crypto industry. Blockchain games, NFTs, and crypto payments are no longer exclusive to crypto enthusiasts. They are now all available as part of a developing metaverse.

What’s the definition of a metaverse?

The metaverse is a concept for an online, 3D, virtual world that brings people from all walks of life together. It would connect several platforms, similar to how a single browser can connect multiple websites.

The idea was established in Neal Stephenson's science-fiction novel Snow Crash. While the concept of a metaverse was once thought to be science fiction, it now appears to be a possibility in the future.

The metaverse will be powered by augmented reality, with each user controlling their character or avatar. Hold a mixed reality meeting in your virtual office with an Oculus VR headset, complete work and relax in a blockchain-based game, then manage your crypto portfolio and finances all from within the metaverse.

Some aspects of the metaverse can already be seen in virtual video game environments—games like Fortnite and Second Life or work socialization tools like Gather. Town brings together several elements of our lives into online universe.  These apps aren't quite as sophisticated as the metaverse, but they are close. The metaverse doesn't yet exist.

In addition to gaming and social media, the metaverse will have an economy, decentralized governance, digital identities, and other applications. User-created valuable goods and currencies continue to contribute to developing a single, unified metaverse. These features provide blockchain the potential to power this future technology.

What is the correlation between the metaverse and video games?

Video games provide the closest metaverse experience thanks to 3D virtual reality.

This isn't solely because they're 3D. Video games now include services and features that apply to various areas of our lives. Roblox is a video game that offers virtual events such as concerts and gatherings. Players no longer merely play the game; they also utilize it for other activities and elements of their life in cyberspace. For example, in the online game Fortnite, Travis Scott's virtual in-game music tour garnered 12.3 million gamers.

What role does crypto play in the metaverse?

Gaming provides the 3D component of the metaverse, but it falls short of providing all of the criteria for a virtual environment that encompasses all aspects of life. Other essential components, like digital proof of ownership, governance, accessibility, and value transfer, may be provided by crypto. But what exactly do these terms imply?

We'll need a secure means to establish ownership if we work, communicate, and even purchase virtual goods in the metaverse in the future. We must also feel safe when moving these money and objects across the metaverse. Finally, if the metaverse becomes such a significant part of our lives, we will want to decision-making.

Although several video games already have some rudimentary solutions, many creators prefer to employ crypto and blockchain as a superior alternative. While video game creation is more centralized, blockchain enables a decentralized and transparent approach to dealing with the topics.

The video game industry also has an impact on blockchain engineers. GameFi and Decentralized Finance both use gamification (DeFi). In the future, there seem to be enough similarities between the two universes for them to grow even more intertwined. The essential qualities of blockchain that make it ideal for the metaverse are as follows:

    1. Digital proof of ownership: If you have a wallet and access to your private keys, you can instantly verify ownership of a blockchain asset or activity. For example, you might give an exact transcript of your transactions on the blockchain while at work to show accountability. One of the most dependable and safest methods to create a digital identity and provide proof of ownership is to use a wallet.

    2. Digital collectibility: We can prove that an item is unique and original, just as we can show who owns it. This is crucial for a metaverse that wishes to integrate more real-world activity. Using NFTs, we can create unique products and cannot be replicated or produced. A blockchain can also be utilized to represent tangible property ownership.

    3. Value transfer: A metaverse will require a safe transfer method that consumers can trust. Multiplayer game in-game currency is less safe than crypto on a blockchain. If users spend a lot of time in the metaverse and even generate money there, they'll require a reliable currency.

    4. Governance: Users should determine the rules that govern their interactions with the metaverse. We can elect leaders, governments, and vote in corporations in the real world. Fair governance will be essential in the metaverse, and blockchain is already a proven approach.

    5. Accessibility: Anyone with access to public blockchains can create a wallet. Unlike a bank account, you don't need to pay any money or provide any information. As a result, it's one of the simplest ways to manage funds and a digital identity over the internet.

    6. Interoperability: Blockchain technology enhances the interoperability of diverse systems all the time. Avalanche (AVAX) and Polkadot (DOT) are two projects that allow you to create unique blockchains that can communicate with one another. Multiple projects must be linked in a single metaverse, and blockchain technology can help with that.

    What is a metaverse job?

The metaverse, as previously said, will bring all aspects of life together in one place. While many people today work from home, you will be able to interact with your coworkers' avatars in the metaverse by visiting a 3D office. Your job might potentially be metaverse-related, allowing you to earn money that you can use in the metaverse. Jobs of this nature already exist in a similar form.

GameFi and other play-to-earn models are now allowing people all around the world to earn a steady income. Because they show that individuals are willing to spend time living and working in virtual settings, these online jobs are great candidates for future metaverse deployment. Two examples of play-to-earn games without 3D settings and avatars are Axie Infinity and Gods Unchained. It is the principle, though, that they could be a part of the metaverse as a means to make money fully online.

    Metaverse examples

While there is not currently a single, connected metaverse, several platforms and initiatives are comparable to the metaverse. These generally incorporate NFTs and other blockchain features. Consider the three scenarios below:

    SecondLive

SecondLive is a 3D virtual world where users may socialize, learn, and do business by controlling avatars. An NFT marketplace for trading collectibles is also part of the idea. The virtual expo enabled users to interact with and explore many projects in the BSC ecosystem.

    Axie Infinity

This is a play-to-earn game that has allowed users in developing countries to earn a steady income. A player can start farming the Smooth Love Potion (SLP) token by buying or receiving three creatures known as Axies. Someone could make between $200 to $1000 if they sold their tickets on the open market, depending on the market price and how much they played.

While Axie Infinity doesn’t offer a single 3D avatar or character, it does allow users to work in a metaverse-like setting. You might have heard the famous story of Filipinos using it as a substitute for full-time work or welfare.

    Decentraland

Decentraland is a virtual world containing social elements, cryptocurrencies, and non-fungible tokens, as well as virtual real estate. Furthermore, players participate actively in the platform's governance. NFTs are utilized to represent cosmetic collectibles in NFTs, as they are in other blockchain games. They're also utilized for LAND, 16x16 meter land pieces that players can purchase for MANA in the game. All these factors combine to form a complex crypto-economy.

What does the metaverse's future hold?

One of the most outspoken proponents of a united metaverse is Facebook. This is particularly interesting for a crypto-powered metaverse due to Facebook's Diem stablecoin project. Mark Zuckerberg has said clearly that he aims to launch a metaverse project to promote remote work and create financial opportunities for people in impoverished nations. Because Facebook owns social media, communication, and cryptocurrency platforms, it is in a great position to bring these worlds together. Apple, MicrosoftGoogle are among the other significant IT giants exploring the establishment of a metaverse.

The next step toward a crypto-powered metaverse looks to be deeper integration between NFT markets and 3D virtual settings. NFT holders can already sell their items on marketplaces like BakerySwap and OpenSea, but no widely utilized 3D platform exists yet. On a bigger scale, blockchain developers might build successful metaverse-like products with a greater organic user base than a major IT company.

While a unified metaverse is still a long way off, we can already see patterns that might lead to its creation. Another science fiction use for blockchain and cryptocurrency appears to be in the works. It's not clear whether we will ever arrive at a metaverse. However, in the meantime, we can engage in metaverse-like initiatives and continue to integrate blockchain into our daily lives.

Chapter 1: THE HISTORY OF THE METAVERSE

Metaverse is a collection of byte-based alternatives to the characteristics of the actual, atomized universe. The metaverse will have a role in our lives in the future with or without our permission.
