About Last Knight; The Phantom Hunter - Terrell Perry

    EPISODE 1

    SCARLETT’S COMING FOR YA

Six months had passed since the last time she stood in the living room of her family’s home.  The house was now nothing more than a shadow of what it used to be.  The furniture now covered with white sheets that had layers of dust accumulated on them. Scarlett stood there letting her thoughts take her to the last time she was in this home. A slight smirk appeared on her face as images of killing her entire family flooded her mind. To obtain her revenge a sacrifice was needed before she could unlock the mysteries of the ancient text she so desperately sought after.

The ancient grimoire spoke to her requiring her to offer something in return before revealing its secrets to her. Now that she had made that sacrifice, she is now able to indulge in it’s secrets.

She makes her way through the home slowly as she reminisced on the time she spent in this house. Scarlett wasn’t like the rest of her family. She came from a line of powerful witches, highly accomplished witches of their coven. In the Trinity Coven, the witches were paired in three’s but not her family. They were so powerful that they didn’t need to be paired, except for Scarlett. She was the least talented of all her family.

Scarlett couldn’t perform magic like normal witches; Scarlett was only able to use her magic to fuel her physical abilities as well as create a magical aura around her hand that resembled a transparent crimson blade; making her magic in physical form. The only thing her blade was capable of was taking lives, and that she was very good at. She finally made her way to the kitchen, through a door that was next to the refrigerator. Behind the door was a flight of stairs leading down to the basement. Scarlett walked down the steps slowly as the wood creaked with her every step.

The basement was completely empty, only thing left was a light bulb that swung ever so slightly back and forth on a metal chain. Scarlett surveyed the large empty basement as the pale moon light shined through the small basement windows. Without wasting another moment, Scarlett raised her hand in the air and with a snap of her fingers came a bright burst of light from her fingertips. Instantly, the once empty basement was now full. Since she has made the sacrifice, the Grimoire was granting her more access to magic which was allowing her to cast smaller simpler spells.

Scarlett now stood in front of a long wooden table with a variety of items a witch would use to cast spells. There were different size bowls, some made of glass, plastic and even ceramic. The table had candles, variety of animal bones, and glass vials with strange liquids within them.

The room was filled with other magical and non-magical items to cast spells and other things that were turned into Artifacts; items fused with magic that had unique abilities and or properties. Scarlett removed her black leather bag she wore around shoulder placing it on the table. From inside the bag, she removed a vile of black sand, a lock of hair that was held together by a red ribbon and a large snake that looked like a mini anaconda. She placed the lock of hair in a large ceramic bowl, poured the black sand over top of the hair. Finally, she grabbed the snake by its head as it hissed, wrapping its self around Scarlett’s arm. She took her free hand and with a single thought her hand burst into a crimson like flame that surrounded her fist coming to a long point like a sharp blade. With one wave of her flaming hand, she severed the snakes head from its body. The snake’s blood splashed and splattered into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients. She tossed the rest of the snake’s remains to the side.

Once all the ingredients were in the bowl, Scarlett distinguished her blade, then waved her hand over the bowl as she whispered an incantation in an ancient African dialect.  As the words rolled off her tongue, the contents in the bowl began to boil and bubble. Suddenly all the candles began to burn wildly as a cloud of purple smoke emerge from the bowl. Scarlett leaned her head closer to the purple smoke cloud as she inhaled the fumes. She let the smoke fill her lungs as if she was taking a hit from the peace pipe. Once her lungs were full, she suddenly began to receive random images of a brown skin woman entering what appeared to be a bar of some kind.

After holding her breath for a few moments longer, she finally exhaled, blowing out a blue-ish colored smoke from her nostrils.

So that’s where you been hiding Scarlett said to herself softly. I think it’s time a pay you a visit she thought to herself as her lips curled into an evil grin.

Sitting in a corner booth in The Wooden Dagger, Raven, Deuce, Tre’ and Junior sat in silence still shaken up from witnessing the suicide of a fellow hunter right before their eyes.  Images of Gus blowing his brains out all over the Wooden Daggers walls were still freshly in their minds. Everyone was dealing with the situation differently seeing that they have all witnessed some form of murder and death in some capacity. Junior however, not so much, this was his first time seeing someone die, especially in such a violent manner. He sat with his arms crossed, rocking back and forth in his chair.

      Are you ok? Raven asked.

He just blew his brains out right in front of us. Why would he do that? That’s some crazy shit! Junior replied still trying to process what happened.

Compulsion, some sick twisted vampire compelled him to do it Deuce snarled.

Whoever this Order of the Black Sun is, we are going to find them and blow their fucking heads off. Tre’ replied.  They killed our entire guild

Don’t worry you guys, we will get these monsters, if it’s the last thing we do Raven replied in her sweet, reassuring voice.

Everyone returned to silence letting their thoughts overtake their minds putting them in a trance like state. The silence was interrupted by the sounds of a chair being dragged along the tile floor. Guild Master, Jacob Martin was pulling a chair up to the table where the others were sitting.

His clothes were covered in blood, from cleaning up the remains of his fallen Hunter. Jacob sat down with the others. He was carrying a brown folder and a cup of coffee.

I know you guys are still in shock, but we have work to do. I will not let Gus and the others death be in vain. Jacob replied as he placed the folder on the table.

"So, this is who we are dealing with. I don’t have a lot of information on her; all we know is her name is Scarlett Williams, a former member of the Trinity Coven. She is wanted for a several murderers including the murder of her entire family. I received a call from a hunter by the name of Veedah La’Rue, she works closely with the High Council.

Deuce grabbed the folder, removing the picture of Scarlett from inside. Don’t worry Guild Master, this bitch will pay with her life she replied.

Right, ain’t gonna be no capturing, cause when I see her it’s gonna be chitty chitty bang bang Tre’ replied.  And I didn’t know we served coffee

"So how do we find her? Raven asked.

You guys are going to meet up with Veedah at the scene of the crime. She says she may have a way to track her answered Jacob.

You’re not coming with us? Junior asked. You could hear the concern in his voice.

Sadness came over the Guild masters face as the thought of not being unable to assist his fellow hunters track down this witch.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to step foot outside of this building

    Why not? asked Raven.

It’s a very long story. I’ll tell you about it another time. For now, let’s focus on the task at hand replied Jacob.

Yeah, let’s go get this witch!" shouted Tre’ as he jumped up from his seat.

Good idea little brother Deuce replied as she stood to her feet, followed by Raven and Junior.

As everyone grabbed their things so they could go to meet Veedah, Jacob watched longing to join them on their quest.

Now remember, you four are the last surviving members of The Wooden Dagger. So please be careful, you’re all that I have left Jacob replied.

Deuce walked up to Jacob, placing her hand on his shoulder, Don’t worry she replied with a smile.

The Guild Master nodded as Deuce went to join the others. As they exited the building Jacob shouted, "Raven and Junior!

They stopped just before exiting the building, looking back at Jacob.

When you two return I’ll properly make you members of The Wooden Dagger replied Jacob.

Raven smiled as Junior jumped for joy.

Now go and avenge our fallen, said Jacob.

Don’t worry Mr. Jacob sir, we won’t let you down smiled Raven.

Yeah, you can count on us replied Junior as the two turned an exited the building.

Guild master Jacob made his way to the door stopping inches from the doorway. He stood there examining the doorway as if it were foreign to him. He slowly extended his arm across the threshold of the doorway. As his arm passed through the doorway, the flesh of his arm began to age rapidly. He grunted as the skin on his arm weathered away, as if he were mummified. He pulled his arm back into the building and it instantly returned to its youthful appearance. Jacob examined his arm, flexing his hand ensuring it functioned properly before returning to his post at the bar to await the return of the others.

Sunlight peaked through the leaves of the tall trees of the forest as Veedah stood patiently waiting for the hunters to arrive. It was only a couple hours ago she stood in this very spot next to the stake where the infamous Scarlett was to be executed. She reflected on how difficult it was to capture her evil ass, and if it wasn’t for the fear of watching a fellow witch being burned at the stake, she would have been able to ensure these hunters wouldn’t have lost their lives and Scarlett would be with the ancestors. Then another thought crossed her mind. What if this was the will of the ancestors sparing her life from a fatal encounter, which in that case she was thankful.

Veedah looked down at her watch to check the time.

These hunters were supposed to be here by now she thought to herself.

She crossed her arms as she started to get irritated and impatient. Just as she was about to leave the shade of the woods, she could hear voices approaching. From behind the trees emerged four individuals: two females and two males. They were dressed as you would expect hunters to dress, simple and effective.

You guys smell that? frowned Tre’ as he approached Veedah, who was clearly annoyed by their tardiness.

It smells like straight death around here mumbled Tre’ as he covered his nose

    You’re late! snapped Veedah.

Sorry about that, we had a little situation back at the guild we had to take care of replied Raven

Why are we even meeting out here anyway asked Deuce as she surveyed the area.

Yeah, I thought we were going on a witch hunt? asked Tre’ as he and Junior did a fist bump.

Is this where all those hunters ….. asked Raven as she and the others fell silent at the thought of those hunters losing their lives so violently.

Veedah was standing next to a man-made fire pit with a large wooden pillar in the center, connected to the pillar was a set of shackles, she turned her back to Raven, lowering her head in shame.

Yes, this is the place where they all died. I asked you all to meet me here to help me find any clues that could help us find who aided Scarlett in her escape. If we had a werewolf here this could go much faster replied Veedah.

Smiling from ear-to-ear Tre’ replied, Well today is your lucky day because you have not one but three werewolves at your disposal

Veedah looked back over her shoulder at the young hunters with a raised eyebrow.

Werewolf hunters? Now that’s a deadly combination, almost as deadly as me being a witch who is a hunter. Is your pack ok with you three being hunters? she asked.

We have no pack! replied Deuce in a stern tone.

Oh, a group of Omega’s said Veedah softly.

Is that a problem? asked Raven, crossing her arms giving Veedah a little attitude.

Oh no, there is no problem at all. I didn’t mean any harm

It sure didn’t sound like that to me said Junior, who also picked up on the judgmental tone in Veedah’s voice.

.    Anyway! replied Deuce trying to avoid an unnecessary confrontation So you want us to pick up some clues on Scarlett then we will do that, but first do you have any info on this organization called the Order of the black sun?  I mean you are an errand girl for the high council right? Deuce smiled.

Tre’ and Junior chuckled as they exchanged another fist bump.

Veedah became furious, Please! I’m nobodies errand girl! I’m the right hand of the high priestess Lady Laura barked Veedah as she walked up on Deuce.

Deuce towered over Veedah as she looked down on the brown skinned witch. Raven became annoyed with all the bickering. She walked over to Deuce and Veedah, placing herself in between them.

Ladies lets deal with the situation at hand. After that you can have your little cat fight. You want us to find clues then let’s find these damn clues. snapped Raven as she stormed away from Deuce and Veedah leaving them in silence.

Junior and Tre’ looked at each other like siblings who just watched their other sibling get in trouble.

Well, I’m just going to start looking over there replied Junior.

Tre’ nodded his head in agreeing with Junior as he followed Junior to search for clues.

This will be quick, I’m the best tracker in the city smiled Tre’

Deuce and Veedah took opposite sides       of the woods to look for clues. Standing alone next to a tree, Raven began to focus on her surroundings. She closed her eyes, recalling on her training, the lessons she learned from Mr. Tamoutsu and Alex. Taking slow deep breaths, Raven could distinguish the distinct aromas that filled the air.

While Deuce and Tre’ were having a difficult time picking up a scent, Raven could tell the different types of gun powder was used in each gun that was fired. She could smell the fear, anger, despair, and death that still lingered in the air.  She was like a blood hound hot on the trail. Her keen sense of smell was so strong she even could tell when each hunter died.  She continued looking for something that would help them identify who rescued Scarlett from certain death when she noticed a familiar scent. It was faint, masked by the smell of blood and death but she recognized the scent. It was something she hasn’t smelled in over a year.  The scent of an expensive perfume, Chanel No.5

This was the favorite perfume of her best friend Eve, but what was she doing in the woods, Raven thought to herself. She followed the scent, tracing the exact steps Eve took as she killed the hunters one by one.  Deuce and the others watched in amazement

Sis are you seeing this? Tre’ replied in a confused tone.

Deuce nodded her head yes. She was speechless, unable to comprehend what she was witnessing. Raven continued tracing the footsteps of Eve until it led her right to where Scarlett was supposed to be executed. Suddenly the overpowering smell of gasoline filled Ravens nose. Even with the strong scent of gasoline in the air, she was still able to pick up on another scent. It was blood but something about it was different. Raven bent down to find droplets of fresh blood on some of the stones that outlined the stake.

"Would this help? asked Raven, pointing at the droplets of blood.

Veedah walked over to Raven, kneeling beside her. Impressed with Ravens efforts, Veedah smiled, This will be more than enough

Reaching into her inner pocket of her black hooded cloak she pulled out a glass vial. With a wave of her hand the drops of blood vanished, then reappeared inside the glass vial.

Holy shit did you see that? said Junior. This was his first-time seeing magic.

That was awesome muttered Raven. She too had never seen magic before.

That was nothing replied Veedah. What you did to find this blood that was amazing
