About this ebook

This book provides a detailed description of one of my trading methods with no holds barred.

You get a detailed description of one of my methods together with some examples of real life trades, both winning and losing.

The period covered is 1st March 2021 to 1st March 2022, a period where we saw plenty of stock market volatility with the spread of Covid around the world and various government responses to it, and world events like the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

You’ll see what I trade, why I trade it and the results from each trade. This is the experiment - the ultimate test. No reliance on back-tests or dummy accounts. These are real trades with real money. Win or lose, you’ll see it all.

Before deciding to participate in the markets, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. Most importantly, do not invest money you cannot afford to lose.

There is considerable exposure to risk in any trading transaction. Any transaction involves risks including, but not limited to, the potential for changing political and/or economic conditions that may substantially affect the price or liquidity of a market. Trading can also be susceptible to sharp rises and falls as the relevant market values fluctuate. The leveraged nature of trading means that any market movement will have an equally proportional effect on your deposited funds. This may work against you as well as for you. Not only may investors get back less than they invested, but in the case of higher risk strategies, investors may lose the entirety of their investment.

Trading on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance is not indicative of future results. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you. Before deciding to trade you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite.

The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with trading and seek advice from an independent financial advisor if you have any doubts.

This is the experiment - the ultimate test. No reliance on back-tests or theory. These are real trades - win or lose, you’ll see it all.

There is only one definition of a successful trader in my opinion - someone who makes a good return from the markets consistently. I accept that this is an arbitrary definition since good and consistent can mean different things to different people. Personally, I look to get an average return of at least 15% a year with drawdowns less than 15%. Sometimes I achieve more and sometimes less but the average should be 15% with limited drawdown.

It’s important to control the size of an inevitable drawdown since this is the main reason why people stop trading. They think that every trade should be a winner with no drawdowns. This is impossible and you have to learn to lose if you want to win. That may seem a strange thing to say, but most traders are lucky to achieve more than 40% - 50% winners but what really matters is the size of those winners compared with the size of the losing trades. I’ll go into far more detail later in this book and I’ll explain what I look for in my trading strategy and how I measure the performance of a strategy.
