About this ebook

If you read this, you are probably a beginner trader or desire to become one.

Congratulations, the challenge which you accept is very interesting - certainly, it will affect your life. But think for a moment - do you have what it takes to become a trader? You are going to beat Pros in their own game. There are no gimmicks or shortcuts - the challenge is quite serious. You will need to have enough capital, required knowledge, and the emotional robustness. If you are okay with that, proceed reading.

Let me introduce myself. My name's Stanislav (Stan) and I'm a trader with experience in trading different markets since 2004. I've been managing my own account as well as other people's money. I know what it takes to either make a living from trading or building a capital. If you let me guide you in the learning process, I will show you the plan which I use in my own trading - the one that is proven to be effective over the years.

Why would you need to read this book?

If you are fed up with applying indicator-based strategies that don't work or drifting between trading styles, this book is for you.

You will learn how to conduct a professional top-down analysis - you will learn what stands behind the chart. Practical trading tactics are also included - there are plenty of examples of real trades (verified by a trusted web-resource), which represent each strategy in detail.

What trading instruments do we focus on in the book?

I trade the most popular instruments like major currencies, commodities, some stocks, and cryptocurrencies (I started to trade them since 2017). However, the principles described in the book work for all markets (with a specific adaptation of execution rules).

How much experience would you need to have to benefit from the information from this book?

If you are starting from the scratch, I'd recommend you to get some basic education. You should how to make a trade and set a stop-loss, how to set up a chart and so on and so forth.

Don't forget that trading is associated with a certain financial risk - trade responsibly and learn to calculate risk before you enter any trade whatsoever.

The Comprehensive Guide To Swing Trading For Beginners - Stanislav Bernukhov

    Preface

My name is Stanislav Bernukhov and I’m a professional trader with over 13 years of experience in trading the financial markets: Forex, Futures, stocks, and options.

This book is a very brief summary of my accumulated trading experience. Why write another book on trading? I believe that sharing your ideas pays off. If I will help just one reader to reduce anxiety and become a better decision maker, I will consider my mission successful.

Many people approach trading with conventional technical analysis, reducing decision making to chart analysis. Is it all you need to make decent trading decisions? The short answer is no, it’s not enough.. Ability to read chart patterns is mandatory, but every professional trader has to build a systematic trading process. Sounds boring, but that’s what it is.

In this book, I will share with you the example of how the mentioned process could look like. For example, I start my day by watching the economic calendar, then watch COT-reports and open interest for the markets which I follow. Then, I analyze daily charts, watch historical volatility, and, finally, build a plan for the day. Once I’ve done that, I choose one of my trading systems to realize this plan. Thus, it’s not only pattern recognition that matters. It’s a step-by-step process of finding and realizing a good trade. Every element is equally important and nothing can be thrown off.

This book is addressed to a wide range of readers, but if you have initial experience in trading, it would be much easier to understand what I’m talking about. If you don’t have enough experience, go to the end of this book where you will find the list of useful resources and books.

If you want to learn more about my approaches to trading, I welcome you to enroll in my related course on Udemy. It goes much deeper into the details and uncovers many important nuances. I give you the course for FREE, which you can get using special coupon code: https://www.udemy.com/the-comprehensive-guide-to-pro-trading-for-beginners/?couponCode=READERSREWARD The lifetime of the coupon is limited, so click the link above and get your copy of the course.

Pros and cons of being a swing trader

Swing trader is someone who capitalizes on relatively short-term market moves, usually no more than 1-20 days. A distinction between day, swing and position traders is pretty much nominal.

Sometimes, you can capture big profit in a single day, when volatility goes mad. Sometimes, you watch your PnL going back and forth as the market doesn’t move for the entire week. After all, there are small and big swings. So, who is swing trader?

From my personal vocabulary, swing trader is someone who is:

Following the logic above, swing trader is not an active day trader, and that’s the first advantage of this trading approach. If you are a swing trader, you don’t have to monitor markets 24/7. If the window of opportunity is not open, you don’t have to trade. It’s that simple.

Free time and ability to have a life are very important for me. I’m a father with 3 small kids - thus, spending time with my family is one of my priorities.
