    Miranda Randi Moon used her hip to open the door to Three Strikes Collectibles and Books in order to roll a loaded dolly into the store. Seeing that her boyfriend, Cole Lattimer, was busy with a customer—a young man Randi had never seen before—she pushed the dolly over to the end of the counter and waited patiently.

    Cole glanced up and rewarded her with a quick smile with multiple meanings. Thanks. I’ll be with you in a moment. And most important of all, You know I love you, right?

    A few minutes later, the young man departed with his purchases in hand, and Cole came over to her.

    Good morning! He kissed her which never failed to make her toes tingle.

    Miranda nodded toward the door. Who was that? I didn’t recognize him.

    Didn’t give a name. Cash customer. Evidently, his mother is over at Sanctuary, picking out a dog.

    And he’s in here? she asked, incredulous at the thought. Buying comic books instead of helping her choose?

    He shrugged. Takes all types. He examined the boxes on the dolly. What do we have here?

    No idea, but it’s not for you. Burt is opening the barber shop late this morning and asked me to bring these here.

    Cole eyed the three large boxes. You know, he does that a lot. I thought that when his nephew started working for him, the kid was going to help keep the place open. What’s the kid’s name?

    Winston, Randi answered. But so far, I don’t think he’s been much help. He’s only like seventeen or so. He just looks older because he’s so tall.

    In any case, I think I ought to start charging Burt for storage.

    She shot him a grin. Burt said they’ll be over right after lunch, so the stuff ought not be here too long. Give me a hand. Together, they offloaded the boxes to
