Introduction
If you want to make a lifestyle change to be healthier then the best place to start is with this Nutrition and Weight Loss book. What makes this book so wonderful are all the tasty comfort food recipes combined with the healthy and filling juice recipes. The comfort foods listed in this book are nutritious so you are receiving your favorite dishes along with healthy foods.
The first step to a healthier lifestyle is a change in diet. The fact is true, we are what we eat. But this doesn't mean that we have to deprive ourselves of the foods we love. Delicious meals can be made from healthy whole foods to give our body the best nutrients possible. Combine the comfort foods along with the juicing recipes and you have a winning combination. You just need to decide how you want to follow the diet plan.
One way to follow the diets to lose weight is to start with the juicing diet. If you want to lose a lot of weight this is a great way to jumpstart the diet. The best way to do a juicing diet is to have juice for every meal and snack except for one meal a day. Many people choose to have regular food for supper. You can choose from the many recipes in this book for your breakfast, lunch, and snacks and choose a comfort food meal for supper.
It is okay to vary this. Perhaps you may want to try juicing for breakfast or lunch only. Or maybe you will want to do the juicing for snacks only. However you want to do it is okay. As long as you stick with the diet plans and stay away from junk food you will lose weight.
If you have a junk food habit you must break this habit so you can successfully change your dieting lifestyle. If you don't break the habit you will be tempted to go back to your old way of eating. Junk food is very addictive. If you wean from the junk food first you will be able to overcome the habit without having a relapse. Successful weaning from a bad habit takes time though.
Give yourself a full three weeks to wean from the junk food. If you take the time you may can avoid the unpleasant side effects from weaning. If you stop the junk food all of a sudden you will have withdrawals such as headaches, moodiness, anxiety, and intense cravings. Start by eating the junk food just twice a day for a week. Then switch to eating it just once a day for a week. The third week you can skip a day between eating it. By the end of the third week you should be over the junk food habit with little to no withdrawal symptoms. If you still crave the junk, take the next couple of weeks and skip two days between eating it for a week, and three days, and until you are only consuming junk food just once a week. Keep on the juicing and comfort food diets during the weaning process.
Another helpful thing you can do to make the dieting change and lose the weight is to make sure you drink enough water every day. You would be surprised at how little some people drink on a daily basis. While you can substitute some of your water with other beverages such as coffee and tea, you should be getting plenty of plain water as well.
You can calculate how much water you need each day by taking your weight in pounds and dividing it by two. That number in ounces is the amount of water you need to drink each day. For example, if a person weighs 178 pounds, divide that by two and get 89. A person weighing 178 pounds will need to drink 89 ounces of water a day. You can adjust the number according to your weight.
Another thing you can do in addition to nutrition to help with weight loss is to add exercise to your routine. Regular exercise is very beneficial for the body as it helps to strengthen the immune system as well as the muscles. Regular exercise along with diet will help to burn fat and calories and shed the excessive weight.
Start small when adding exercise. You only need to work out every other day for just half an hour. That's all it takes the body to burn a good amount of calories. Regular exercise will give you added energy. You may not feel like getting up and being physically active at first, but the more you do it the more you will feel like doing it.
You can do anything for exercise as long as your body is in physical motion. You can walk, jog, run, ride a bicycle, swim, do aerobics, work out on gym equipment, dance, or play sports. As long as you are physically active and breaking a sweat you are doing good with the exercise. The more you push yourself to exercise the more your body will release a substance called endorphins. Endorphins help you to feel good and energized. It is what's behind the famed runner's high.
These endorphins are a feel good substance giving you a natural high. It is a great way to combat depression and lethargy.
Always seek the advice of your physician or health care provider before starting any new diet or exercise routine. The results of this diet are not guaranteed. You will get out of the diet what you put into it. In other words if you go on the diet, forgo the junk food, drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly you will become healthier and lose weight. If you do not follow the guidelines you will not lose as much weight. It all depends on what you put into it and whether or not you stick with the diet plan. Make a plan to change your lifestyle to a healthier one and start today.
Section 1: Comfort Food Diet
Comfort food is meant to bring out a special feeling in all who eat it, as it creates a sense of nostalgia. It reminds us of the days where we would play with our friends from dawn until dusk and mom would have a special meal waiting when we returned home.
For many, these meals remain a comforting reminder of family and everything that it means. These recipes remind us of simpler times where the entire family would gather around the table and all seemed right with the world. In today's society, it can be difficult to find time to make the meals that mom used to make, but there are ways to make the cooking process much easier. Eating comfort food does not mean that you have to spend the entire day slaving over a hot stove, as many of the recipes allow you to cook outstanding and comforting food without sacrificing your entire day.
At the same time, it is important to remember the things that go into creating a healthy diet. Comfort food might not have the best reputation in that
