About this ebook
Dave Wyatt
Horse enthusiast Dave Wyatt helps clients select and train horses. In the suburbs of Chicago, a family in the market for a horse often has little to no knowledge of the process--let's be honest, Chicagoland isn't exactly known for its horse population. Dave knows the value of a great horse, and loves helping families maximize their equine investment. Dave moved to Chicago in 2011 after living most of his life in scenic Wyoming. After growing up around open spaces and horses, it was quite a culture shock. He missed his childhood horse, and began campaigning and researching to convince his family that Chicago was a great place to house one. Thankfully, they were able to keep their new horse, Sandals at a nearby stable rather than in their tiny garage. As the only horse owner in his class, he was very popular. At least weekly, he found himself instructing his classmates in how to approach, care for, and ride a horse. No one was surprised when he chose to continue in this on a part time basis and as an author. These days Dave lives in Barrington, Illinois with his wife and three kids. When they're not out riding, they enjoy camping, great movies and long hikes.

Welcome to the wonderful world of horse training. It’s a challenging, serious task that is not to be taken lightly
Author Dave Wyatt kicks off with a detailed breakdown on the cost of caring for a horse and the potential hazards involved in training and interacting with your newly purchased horse. Because horses are so large and independent-minded they can be hard to control. To start off on the right foot, Wyatt provides specific suggestions to help you select the best horse. Once you begin training, it’s important to avoid making common newbie mistakes that are dangerous or that can interfere with progress so Wyatt includes an entire chapter focusing on that issue.
Throughout this guide, vital training issues are discussed, such as:
establishing a respectful and trusting bond with your horse
using voice commands
lead rope training
handling behavioral issues
teaching longer slides
Since there are times when you might have to transport your horse using a trailer, Wyatt also provides detailed information on how to load your horse safely into a trailer while avoiding the 5 common errors that can quickly turn the entire loading experience into a dangerous, stressful nightmare.
Take a giant step towards responsible horse ownership and training by tapping into the expert training advice provided in this enlightening beginners’ guide.
