Connor Whiteley

Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

Agents of The Emperor Short Story Collection Volume 3 - Connor Whiteley

    BITTER AIR

As his fingers wrapped around yet another of the small red cherries, Alwart felt its smooth shiny surface. He pulled the small cherry off the thick stem in front of him and threw it behind him.

A moment later, he heard the cherry land into the immense black metal container behind him along with the thousands of other cherries.

Turning his head side to side, he clocked the line of workers either side of him in their disgusting peasant ovals. All of them were pointlessly and repetitively clicking the cherries and throwing them behind them. All waiting for them to land in the container before picking yet another.

Alwart knew this was stupid. All these people were just pointless dull-minded slaves. Doing the exact same thing each and every day and today was no different.

Well, Alwart was going to change that hopefully.

With the sun beaming down on the workers, Alwart's neck started to heat up and small droplets of sweat dripped down his back in the extreme heat.

The moaning of the workers didn't help his irritation.

One of the reasons why Alwart hated this assignment was for the disgusting smell of the workers in the cages at night. Three hot sweaty people in each cage with no ventilation nor bathing. It was disgusting.

The odour of them was probably the one thing driving him to complete his mission. That and his dedication to his Emperor.

But of all the assignments Alwart had to complete it for his Emperor. This had to be the most long-winded.

Normally, Alwart was given a mission and he was simply sent to kill someone. It never mattered how he killed them, as long as they were dead.

However, some all-knowing and overpaid member of the Empire's government decided to change things up. Since this time, Alwart knew where the target was kept but his Master wanted him to travel to this forsaken, pointless corner of the galaxy called the Kupha system. And work on a worldwide coffee plantation and wait for the target to arrive.

Alwart knew it was a complete waste of time. Of all the things he could be doing right now, he had to blend in with these workers.

He picked another coffee cherry and looked at it. Thinking about how this small cherry contains a bean that will travel across the stars to fill people's mugs. Then he threw it behind him.

As he continued to pick the cherries, feeling their warmth in his hands, he turned his head slightly to look at the workers in their peasant wear and their poorly maintained bodies.

Of course, Alwart knew none of their troubles were their fault. If anything it was the Planetary System's Commander who was at fault. Allowing a corporation to force their way into the system. Killing off the Planetary Governors and replace them with their own puppets. Now all ten planets in the system were enslaved and churned out thousands of kilograms of coffee every nanosecond.

A part of Alwart wondered what pockets had been padded for the enslavement of trillions to go unnoticed. But now that it was noticed Alwart and other assassins had a lot of work to
