Are we ever in balance? New ideas, technological innovations, meeting new people, change our lives and bring results not expected. We are constantly sifting through this plethora of stimuli and experiences. How do we use our human gifts to bring Balance
into our lives and world? At different stages of our lives, Childhood, Young Adults, Adulthood and as Older Adults what choices do we make and how do we begin to consider the most meaningful and effective ways to address the significant issues of our time.
Human beings are richly gifted with knowledge, critical thinking skills, imagination, and the capacity to dream but are we thoughtful and discerning in our choices in the time and value we allow technology into our Lives? Machines have instructions and efficiency. We have purpose and imagination. Machines cannot dream, we need to use our machines to turn our greatest dreams into reality. J. Bronowski, a noted humanist and scientist states in the Origin of Knowledge and Imagination
man is unique because science and art are equally expressions of his plasticity of mind, compared to a computer that is carrying out a pre-set of actions in an inflexible sequence. Even in the everchanging technological world human beings bring special abilities, such as the ability to utter cognitive sentences and exercise knowledge and imagination. Our actions as adults as decision makers and as human beings are based on values, beliefs. How do we interpret strategies, balance opposing impulses?
