    Overall, this is a solid book about clean eating. I liked how the author pointed out the various benefits of clean eating, and there were many recipes that sound quite tasty. I did have a few issues with the book. More editing would have been helpful (grammatical errors and misspellings). Also, the author recommends eating 4-6 small meals per day, but in the suggested meal plan section only provides 3 meals plus 1 snack. Further, I'm not a fan of the word "diet" since that generally means something temporary, and clean eating is more of a lifestyle change. For those looking into clean eating, this book would provide a good, basic start.

The clean eating diet also includes combining lean protein and complex carbohydrates together at each meal. It also stresses eating to get as many nutrients as possible while avoiding foods that are essentially empty calories, such as cookies, processed snacks, sodas and fast foods. You also need to learn to pay attention to the right portion sizes while ensuring you practice good portion control. This diet also requires you to drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated. The basics of this diet are very simple and easy to remember as you embark on this new way of eating.

The Pros and Cons of the Diet

When you are considering a new diet, it is always a good idea to look at the pros and cons that the diet offers. The good news is that the clean eating diet comes with many great pros and few cons. Of course, it is still important to consider both sides so you can decide if this diet will work well for you and your family.

The Pros

You eat frequent smaller meals through your day, which helps to keep you from getting too hungry. You get high quality nutrition on a regular basis.

Another pro is that the diet focuses on a very balanced diet. You will be getting a balanced intake of foods from each food group.

It is easy to find great clean eating recipes and menu planning resources that help you to follow the diet.

The diet focuses on eating unprocessed foods and notes that eating this way helps you feel better, improves your overall health and also helps to improve appearance.
