CHAPTER 1
The Mystic Flower
It was an ordinary day in Barksfield, California. Summer was almost over, the blazing hot sun was shining from above, birds were chirping, kids were laughing, and ten-year-old Maria was rolling on the beautiful green lawn in her backyard.

Maria had two sisters. Emily, who was twelve, had hair that went to her back and was very wavy and brown with some blonde streaks. Her eyes were green and brown, so they looked hazel. Emily was very energetic and athletic.
She enjoyed playing basketball and soccer which made her a good team player. Emily had won so many trophies in soccer, she had her own trophy of a sculpture that looked exactly like her.
Veronica, who was fourteen, had light, straight brown hair. Her eyes were blue like Maria’s eyes. She was nurturing, graceful, and pleasant to be around. Veronica was passionate about yoga and stretched very often which made her super flexible. She was a leader both in school and at home.
Maria, very cheerful, daring and adventurous, was into dancing: ballet and jazz. It was a natural talent of hers. Ever since she was a baby, she could
