About this ebook

This work is an examination of a previously “not publicly available” portion of James Churchward’s writings. In Copies of Stone Tablets Found by William Niven at Santiago Ahuizoctla Near Mexico City (1927), James’ early ideas and interpretations of the Valley of Mexico Tablets are presented and nine of the twenty-two tablets are revealed for the first time.

James Churchward’s writings (some six other books) presented his groundbreaking theories and proofs of an ancient advanced civilization in the Pacific Ocean. Churchward;s research into the subject spanned several decades, starting from his time in India where he was taught to read the ancient Naacal tablets, a repository of wisdom from a time before savagery.

Churchward’s study of the Naacal tablets indicated that the Garden of Eden was not in Asia, but was the now sunken Pacific Ocean continent that he called Mu and that the Biblical story of creation as well as all civilization originated there. Churchward’s recognition that the Naacal Brotherhood also composed the tablets William Niven discovered, places their ancient wisdom and knowledge in our laps and offers the opportunity to impart the same to the reader.

    by Jack E. Churchward

Stone Tablets of Mu is an examination of a previously not publicly available portion of James Churchward’s writings. In Copies of Stone Tablets Found by William Niven at Santiago Ahuizoctla Near Mexico City (1927,) James’ early ideas and interpretations of the stone tablets from the Valley of Mexico are presented, and nine of the twenty-two tablets are revealed for the first time. Stone Tablets of Mu investigates Niven’s tablet discoveries by placing them in historical context, examining the media coverage and detailing the use of the tablets in subsequent works by James Churchward. The appendix contains the entire transcribed text and images from the original, as well as other unpublished works by James Churchward.

James Churchward’s writings (some six other books) presented his stimulating theories and proofs of an ancient advanced civilization in the Pacific Ocean. Churchward wrote that his research into the subject spanned several decades, starting from his time in India where he was taught to read the ancient Naacal tablets, a repository of wisdom from a time before savagery.

Churchward’s study of the Naacal tablets revealed that the Garden of Eden was not in Asia but was the now sunken Pacific Ocean continent called Mu. The Biblical story of creation as well as all civilization originated there. Churchward’s recognition of the Naacal Brotherhood as the author of Niven’s tablets establishes another source of ancient wisdom and knowledge from the continent of Mu.

Stone Tablet of Mu fills the gap left by academia’s refusal to address the groundbreaking research and writings of James Churchward. With unbiased scholarship his great-grandson, Jack E. Churchward, analyzes the cryptic symbols on tablets that William Niven discovered in Mexico during the 1920s. Containing nine previously unpublished tablets as well as correspondence and articles by Churchward and Niven, this book is an indispensable volume for anyone interested in understanding the lost continent of Mu.

Gary A. David, author of The Orion Zone

A fascinating, true story about two passionate men, seeking to solve the mystery behind these ancient stone tablets and their symbols. This dedication that existed between Churchward and Niven allows them to break this code, revealing modern man’s connection to the sunken Motherland of Mu, and the tales of his own sacred creation.

    Preface

Copies of Stone Tablets Found by William Niven at Santiago Ahuizoctla Near Mexico City is not James Churchward’s least read work, yet its pages have only been seen by a few people since it was handwritten in 1927.

The thirty-some pages are witness to the beginning of the tablets discovered by William Niven, confirming Churchward’s earlier pronouncement of the Naacal Tablets he read in India. Niven’s finds are no longer just the proof of cities destroyed by cataclysm. The decipherment of the tablets, along with other artifacts, show the link to the Motherland of Mu.

Niven’s Tablets were real. He unearthed 2,600 and took careful notes about the location and depth found, as well as the colors used. In addition to his rubbings of each tablet, he also took photographs. Three archaeologists from the Carnegie Institute witnessed the excavation of Niven’s tablet number 4. Whether or not James Churchward interpreted them, the study of the tablets is lacking. Certainly there is a risk due to guilt by association with the theories of the much-maligned occult author; however, that should not dissuade the thorough academician from enhancing our understanding of what these tablets mean.

There are texts promulgated to cause division, inspire contempt for others, and/or set an agenda. This is not one of them. Aside from a minor theme concerning the research (or non-research) of Niven’s tablets and their scholarly interpretations by academia, the work is not polarized. I did manage to find one article on the tablets by a famous archaeologist but not very much more scholarly work on the subject. If there is substantial research into the tablets, I stand corrected and will patiently wait to read what is available.

As a researcher, I undertook this work to learn more about the theories and underlying evidence. Rationally and without prejudice I gathered evidence and have presented it here. I neither categorically commend nor condemn the works, the authors, or any of their theories—the evidence is simply presented. If reading some material contained herein is deemed insensitive or even offensive, please be aware of the period in which it was created. The readers are assumed to have free will to either accept or reject any assumption, comment, remark or evidence and form their own opinions on the veracity of the data. Actually, it is required.

    Chapter 1: The Original Book

    People

The publisher, William E. Rudge (1876-1931) was presented with a thirty-eight page handwritten work by author James Churchward for Christmas 1927. The illustrated pamphlet was entitled, Copies of Stone Tablets Found By William Niven in Santiago Ahuizoctla Near Mexico City. In addition to both men residing in Mount Vernon, New York, Rudge had published Churchward’s book The Lost Continent of Mu Motherland of Man in 1926.

Rudge was introduced to the printing world with his involvement in his father’s Manhattan print shop at the early age of eleven. When his father became too ill to continue to work, young William left school and took over the business. While he was handed a publishing company that was described as ordinary and comparable to the output of countless little plants scattered through downtown Manhattan, his endeavors created a first class firm that eventually moved to Mount Vernon in 1921.¹

The Lost Continent of Mu Motherland of Man, published by Rudge (and Ives-Washburn) in 1926, was about James’ evidence and theories of a now sunken Pacific Ocean continent called Mu. The entirety of Chapter Eleven of his book was called Niven’s Mexican Buried Cities and devoted to William Niven’s archaeological discoveries in Mexico. James wrote:

Niven’s most wonderful discovery has a twofold significance; for, in addition to enlightening the world about prehistoric man and dating his civilization far back into the Tertiary Era, thousands of years before the majestic ranges of mountains raised their imposing peaks above the plains, it also gives a clue as to when the great gas belts were formed and mountains raised.²

James included drawings of four tablets that appeared in a newspaper article in his 1926 work. However, it wasn’t until after that book was published that James started the correspondence with William Niven. From this correspondence, James received more images of the tablets that became the foundation Copies of Stone Tablets... Eventually James received a great deal of images of the individual tablets which allowed the tablets to play a larger role and appear more often in his subsequent books. The document to be discussed next may have signaled an attempt to add legitimacy to his theories or simply pass along a special gift to a friend and neighbor. Nonetheless, it provides further information about James
