Allan Finnegan

I grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. After graduation, I served 6 years in the United States Air Force. I was stationed at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton Virginia. I resided there for several years as well as in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I currently work as an X-ray Technologist in Interventional Radiology at Beth Israel Hospital Deaconess Medical Center. I am an avid camper and backpacker and enjoy many outdoor activities. Traveling has also been a passion of mine and I have experienced many wonderful journeys in and outside the United States. I am also of Native American descent from the Micmac (Mi’kmaq) tribe in Canada. I am active in the Native American community and am a Traditional dancer. This is my first book of poetry.

First, I would like to thank the Creator for giving me this wonderful and special gift that I now share with you. It is by His grace I am able to write such words allowing me to touch others in a way that comes only from the heart. I would like to thank my immediate family for their love, support, and encouragement. To my mother Jeannette, my sisters, Paula and Donna you are the best and my love for you only grows with each day. I want to thank my mother, Jeannette, for giving me the greatest gift. I would like to let my sisters know that I am very proud of their own accomplishments. To my son Joshua whose knowledge of music is extraordinary, I am so proud. Follow your dream.

To my nieces and nephews, Johnny, Summer, Autumn, Holly, Andrew, Heather, Hannah, and Katherine who have been nothing but pure joy in my life. To my father Gilbert Socia and his wife Thelma, your humor, wit, and stories will always remain an integral part of me. You have been a great part of my life.

I would like to give thanks to all my friends and extended family on the Powwow trail that over the years have been there and have listened to the pains of a growing poet and friend both in small and big ways. You have all been a blessing in my life. To Chuck and Zandra Cline and Frank and Kim Altomare I cherish the memory of when we first met and how I have come to know you through the years. To Stephen Standing Owl whose beautiful flute music is an inspiration in and of it-self. To Chuck Hagen and Bert Gunn whose wisdom and intellect have taught me much.
