Ortho was a powerful and savage caveman who struck fear in the hearts of all his enemies. He lived in the savage cave clan by the waterfall, where animals came to drink everyday, giving his people unending supplies of fresh meat to the slaughter. The water was untainted, a perfect well spring for his people to thrive, and for neighboring cavemen to envy.

He was a fair and noble ruler with a secret. He felt nothing for women, even his own woman that he impregnated and lived with. He only fantasized about men.

They lived in the cave shelter behind the waterfall, his presence was hidden by the naked eye, but he was always watching from behind the flowing water which violently crashed into the river. In the more open caves on ground level were his people, a dozen women impregnated by about three men, as well as children and the elderly.

In his own cave was his pregnant woman and baby, and a feral wolf who protected the baby at all times in exchange for scraps of meat, and to help the men hunt when rations were low. Ortho awoke at the break of dawn and stretched his muscles out.

His woman had gathered nuts and berries and fruits, which were spread out on leopard skin. She just sewed him a new armband as a symbol of their community.

I'm hungry! she said grumpily.

OK, he grunted. You eat fruit.

No. I want meat. 

Food was getting scarce, winter was coming and the waterfall could've frozen over any day. The seasons were getting shorter seemingly every year. Women hungered for meat and complained to their men often.
